I'm not sure about this one, but for the next one, get yourself a brad point drill bit to prevent the bit from wandering. I know you don't want to hear this, but if it was mine, I'd start over. At least it's not an expensive piece of Ebony. :dunno:

It wasn't the brad point bit it was the drill head on my press coupled by my retardedness.

Startover how so? new fretboard? eeeep. Ok that's one point of view is there any others haha. This is the prototype and i plan to build more so i guess its not the biggest issue.

Are you saying the chuck is loose in your drill press? If so, I can see how that would be a problem. I'm constantly fighting with inferior equipment myself. I need a new jointer, and a new planer. The thing that makes me mad, is that I know guys with multi-thousands of dollars invested in pro quality shop tools, and they don't even use them!!

Here's a stupid suggestion: Veneer the fretboard! Never mind, I'm mostly (75%) kidding. Other than that, I don't know. If it's a prototype, then maybe just live with it?

Yeah the chuck developed some play while i was drilling. I really should have noticed sooner lol. I am mostly a weekend warrior so yeah i don't have a lot of fancy tools. I actually just turned my plunge router into a router table using an old stool.

As for the veneer that's a good idea, but not for this project.

          Thanks for the advice/feedback.

Leave it. They are going to be close to the frets anyways. You are also going to have strings and other stuff going on. People will not even notice - they'll be thinking "what the hell is with the 36 frets". This is the problem with building guitars. There is always going to be some error. After 15 years of building, I don't think I have built a flawless one yet!!!

If it bothers you that much, you could always use a piece of dowel to fill then redrill. Personally that's what I would do. Nobody else may notice but I'd know and it would drive me nuts.

I dont think that would work man, The plugged dowel areas would be obvious and shoa up. This is the problem it would be imposible to plug those holes and make it look like there was nothing there. Correct me if i am wrong but i think the only possible way would be to leather dye the fretboard then inlay it again with lighter inlays. This would also not be an ideal fix because there is always a chance the old inlays will swell slightly and show through.

Keep the great work rolling, you're gonna have a great guitar when you get it done. I still have a big piece of Black Walnut. lol
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Like was already said man, just leave it. It won't be that noticeable, at least unless you're really close up.

                          The saga continues .

I have installed the frets, beveled the edges and rounded the sharp ends off.. Next stage is to level, crown and polish.

I think it's a cool idea because you don't see things like this everyday. Your body shape reminds me of an old Carvin V220. Super sweet bro. Rock on !!
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Welcome to another edition of amateur hour.

I drilled the tuner holes, shaped the headstock and drilled the bridge holes.

I might glue the wings on tomorrow
