  • GMW neckthrough SS construction progress

In early July, I placed an order for a GMW neckthrough SS. It’s part of this new production line from GMW that has some standard specs for the body construction but then you get to customize and select the finishing touches. Estimated production time is 3-4 months for the standard model. Over the weekend I got a few pics of my SS to show the progress. It’s a 3-piece maple neck with alder sides, ebony board, IL fins in MOP/abalone and ivoroid binding on the neck. Next up are the routes for a single humbucker, single volume and a non-recessed Floyd, with sealing and paint after that. I’m going with a special graphic on this one so my eta is around the 4 month mark, which puts me near Halloween for having this one finished.

I like seeing construction pics from other guys’ projects. So I thought I would share some progress pics as I get from Lee for this new SS. Stayed tuned for more!

    Looks great John!

Nice John! - if I knew ahead of time I could have hooked you up with LSR's ;-)

Looking good. Lee does great work and his line is a great bang for custom buck. I have a couple older GMW's that I got in before the C&D from Fender on the strat headstock. My GMW's are my favorite S style guitar

Thanks, Dave. Maybe next time. Like a few of my others, I have a 'theme' for this guitar based on an idea I've had in my head for a while. So I'm going with standard Gotoh tuners and keeping it simple. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

You are going to have a hard time getting it in that case

Just kidding....it's off to a great start!

                That looks mighty fine.

I got a few more progress pics of my SS from Lee this week showing the routes and installed pup and floyd. Looking good so far. It's scheduled for painting next week. Can't wait to see it with some color. Staye tuned for more.

Is that the Amir camo one? Loved that guitar! How much did it weigh? Wonder why it was so heavy.

My SS is on schedule for now. Here's a few more pics of it sealed and with the base color and headstock painted. Next up is the graphic. This should be interesting to see how this comes together.
