  • My home made blood splatter project... Finally finished!

So... I had an old beat up Cort evl series k4 lying around. I've been procrastinating for months sanding it, filling dents, priming painting, etc. In those months I've lost most of the parts (of course), but I finally got tired of seeing guitar parts and everything disassembled, so I put it back together and strung it up. This was my first, well kind of, semi successful guitar project.

    Here's a pic.

Wow, looks quite tasteful for a blood splatter, nice job.

Yeah, I didn't want to go too overboard with the "blood". It looks a lot better in the photo then it does in person, but I usually screw up paint jobs beyond all repair, so this isn't too bad for me.

At least it was a decent guitar to practice painting with.

I like it! That's a pretty nice pattern on the splatter you've got going there. That's probably what my guitar would look like after I caught an intruder in my house trying to swipe my Jackson's! It looks more realistic because of the way you have the blood splatters so random on the body. Plus they're all different sizes which is cool too. When I see a blood splatter that's over the top it looks too bogus but the way you did it is tasteful. Rock on!
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Looks great man. I think personally I would have gone for a little more blood, but as others have said, yours is tasteful, if blood splatter can be called tasteful.

I used a small bottle of model paint for the blood and it was pretty random. I used a brush and splattered it on the side of the shed and it left really long stringy trails that didn't look very blood like, so I thinned it out where it would hit and splatter a little better. I was thinking about throwing more blood on there, but I didn't want to get carried away and ruin it.

Thanks for the compliments! This project has given me a little more confidence in painting guitars, I would love to find an older cheap kelly and do a rising sun graphic on it...

Maiden it looks great man! If you wanna try a rising sun its SUPER simple to do and ya can do it with random stuff. I did one a while back with a pringles top and some painters tape and it came out great lol

If your gonna try doing home spray using cans etc Spraymax 2k is the BEST clear you can get IMO. Its very forgiving and hardens up to a VERY durable finish. Its basically auto clear 2 part in a can; but once ya crack the can its only good for 24-48 hrs
