  • NGD!!!! MusicMan Luke

Just got it on Saturday. 2008. Black. EMG 85 in bridge, SA,SA in neck and middle, 5 way switch, volume, tone. 22 fret neck. Beautiful frets and neck profile, loads of birdseye, locking tuner, 2 post non locking trem, compensated nut. Plays and sounds as good as all the high end Musicman guitars. Here is the most unusual thing about this guitar... it stays in tune when using the whammy bar and its non locking!! That's right. No locking nut, no locks on the bridge. Full dive bombs to subtle vibrato effects, it doesn't go out of tune in the slightest. Its basically a push down only.. there is very little room to pull up. Neck feels like it has some sort of compound radius on it. Its very comfortable all the way to the 22nd fret. There are absolutely NO dead spots in tone on this guitar. Every string on every fret sings like a bird. No wonder Steve Lukather has been playing these guitars bone stock for so many years now. They are that good. Regarding weight and balance.. perfect. Its light like an Ibanez RG Prestige, it has a body shape and size similar to an Ibanez Saber but a little thicker. Everything on this guitar is super high quality with a very high degree of detail. This was made for one thing and one thing only. It was made to play. Here is another cool detail that Ernie Ball included with this guitar. The whammy bar wont fall off, its set up at the absolute perfect angle and... the case is made with a cut out in it so that you can put the guitar away with the whammy bar on it. Another thing I noticed was the small headstock really adds to the stability of the overall guitar. Its an outstanding guitar. [IMG][/IMG]

Actually when I think about it.. it reminds me a lot of the Satriani JS1000 models.

Hell yeah, congratulations on your ngd! I've always wondered about those Lukather's, never had a chance to check one out but it sounds like a great axe.

Nice score!!! Happy New Guitar Day bro!! Looks like it plays like a dream!!
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Thanks guys. It really is an awesome guitar. Its a major player. I am just amazed at how this non locking trem stays in tune. Fender needs to take lessons from Ernie Ball.

This guitar doesn't stop amazing me. It simply refuses to go out of tune. I have been killing the whammy bar and it stays in perfect tune with no string locks of any kind. Just a 2 post bridge. Its stainless steel though and looks to be very good quality. This is possibly the best playing guitar I have ever owned and in regards to tone.. the harmonics fly off the neck everywhere. There are absolutely no dead spots anywhere. Only sweet spots.

Nice! I've always wanted one of the EBMM sig models like a Luke, Morse or Petrucci.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
