Later Charvettes were plywood bodies with rosewood boarded maple necks. Everything I've read about those necks leads me to believe that they were outstanding.

My first real guitar back in '86 or '87 was a Kramer 600ST. It was plywood and sounded pretty decent. I did replace the pickup with a DiMarzio X2N and the cheap Floyd II single-locking trem to a real Floyd and used it for close to 10 years with no problems. I still have it, but I gutted it and let it collect dust since the Floyd wood screw posts have moved forward.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

I had a Kramer ZX strat it was plywood Sounded nice to me.
Too heavy to be ply wood? Nope ply wood guitars are heavy as hell.
Take a pic of the trem cavity(with the cover off) and post it and we should be able to see if its plywood.
          Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Well, to be honest, the weight of a guitar won't tell you what it's made from. In my experience, plywood guitars are usually heavy, as was the particle board Rogue bass. Maybe yours isn't. Plus, maple neck with rosewood board is pretty much standard for cheaper guitars. I don't want to ruin your new guitar day. The bottom line is, if you like it, that's all that matters.

I still have my Charvette 270RR that has a plywood body. It's actually a great guitar. It's my throw-around beater, but it plays great, and sounds good too.
