I don't care for the looks of it at first but after some playing its not too bad.
Feels like rosewood to me so I could deal with it.Does it sound different than rosewood or ebony? No of course not.
I agree with most of what you're saying but I didn't like how it felt when I played it. The fret board just had an almost fake feeling to it that I can't describe. My buddy loved it so much he actually took it home that night!
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

I like Flying V's until I own one. Then I hate them. Very uncomfortable to play sitting down and generally unbalanced standing up. I have owned several. That polka Hamer is SICK.

Actually it's an Epi-phoney I posted up a thread about it over the summer of 2012. The pickguard and truss rod cover were originally all white, and I masked of them off and painted them 1/2 black.

I can only play it standing with a strap. Too much of a headache to play sitting. But on the bright side, it plays and sounds fantastic. Epi's are usually toxic to me, but this one is very sweet. The neck pickup is about 8K and the bridge is about 12.5K, but it's easy to nail Schenker tones thru the Marshall with it and my Dunlop wah.
