  • Played one of these at guitar center last night....

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-R...82-i3168713.gc This was a pretty sweet guitar and priced fairly. I liked the looks and the sound but I am not too sure about "Granadillo" for a fret board. I think for the price this guitar is a steal if it has a rosewood or ebony board. Anyone else play or see one of these yet? The one I played was right handed but it was still a comfy axe to play. My buddy who was with me actually bought it and we jammed a little last night and it sounds great but I still think the guitar would be better served with a different fret board wood. There was something about the feel of the board I didn't like. Either way it's a pretty nice guitar for $1499.00.

This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Not big on V's, but I'm with you on the board wood.

A black and white guitar without an ebony fretboard is just flat out ugly, that is what I believe
I like black and white guitars

+1, and they colored the pickguard ass backwards. This is one area I think I'd go for Edwards instead of Gibson, but I already have a great Michael Schenker V. Last thing I need is a small decal of a 1 on it.

But what's really important is that it sounds and plays great.

had to google Granadillo.. never heard that word before
Granadillo is a relatively new wood to American guitar making but is fairly common in South America. It is non-porous, straight grained, very dense, and has a ringing, bright tap tone. The reddish brown color will darken to a brick color over time much like Honduran Rosewood.

The Gibson I posted was a Rudolph Schenker sig. The pick guard is cooler when it's matched up side by side IMO. But yours is sweet too!!!

LOL! I never paid close enough attention to Rudolph's. I stand corrected.

This is one of those guitars that I like "in theory." But as far as owning one, next.....

The one you have is an Edwards?

I could be wrong but that looks like a customized Gibson.

+1 My buddy bought it that night and it's a great guitar for the price but I said the same thing. I think this guitar is a much better player and seller if it has a rosewood or ebony board.

Granadillo does get dark after a while so not a bad wood for a fingerboard IMO.
I don't care for the looks of it at first but after some playing its not too bad.
Feels like rosewood to me so I could deal with it.Does it sound different than rosewood or ebony? No of course not.
                              Really? well screw Mark Twain.
