I was given a heap of minwax stuff, 2 cans of spray and 3 cans of wipe on poly. So i have been experimenting with them.
So far i think its not all that bad considering i have brushed it on and i still haven't done the final burnishing/polish/wax. Not how i normally would do it but it seems to be working ok i guess the true test is how long it will last.

Lots of great ideas. The project has gone a tad more aged/relic then i was hoping but i think it actually will work a lot better with the natural back and sides. Its always harder doing this process with lighter coloured fabric as it can easily get dirty and stain, Sometime i use this to my advantage and other times you battle it  I am still learning this process and even after ten or so finishes i am still learning the best ways. As an example this one i did was originally white material. But the sealer and glue i decided to go with has stained and changed the colour. It was my plan all along. I also did a small white wash around the ship before i glues the material down Its given it a sun shinning though the clouds look.
I will assemble that thing one day^^
sorry for the rant haha

Hey man, I think it looks fantastic! I get it now, I know a little slow to the party, but I see how it turned out on the fret board. The board looks very slick. The older one you did is very cool as well. Its a very cool process. Now I can't wait to hear how she plays, and sounds. Shouldn't be too much longer."I have so much gayness at times. Thanks dude.
I think its time for an update. I have started sealing the back.
I have been doing the front with clear also and its going well. Because i did he fretboard in stages i was able to cut/polish he headstock/1st few frets up. The wipe on stuff is truly awesome, considering you can do it all at home with not extra gear. I brushed it on once a day with light sanding between coats, after i built it up a bit i decided i would wipe on the last few and it seems to have worked really well.
Its a magical finish in a hand rubbed style. It worked great with the cutting compound and polish. If this is how it looks without the final wax. HOLY fuck yeah she will be fine as!!Birds like you fly straight to heaven

I do have a question for you. How much does this thing weigh? Have you put it on a scale with all the hardware on?"I have so much gayness at times. My wife walks in my music room, and there I am, in my undies, listening to "Sister Christian" while lighting fireworks..doin' blow." - Bill Z

2.4 kg or 5,29 pounds without the hardware so i imagine it ''might'' get to 3kg
Pretty happy with that.Last edited by charvelsteen; 05-23-2014, 02:23 PM.Birds like you fly straight to heaven

Thanks guys.
I dont use nitro so i wouldnt know what its like. This stuff seems good but its not completly dry yet. When i was drilling holes yesterday it was rather sticky and left stuff around the drill bit.
This wipe on finish isnt as good as the spray with arcylic. But it has got its own charm about it.never the lessBirds like you fly straight to heaven
