Ours are a different color than that one. That's more of a hot pink.

I have three of these. Great axes.

I would love to have a teal and a white one.
Be something to keep an eye out for and snag when they pop up for sale.
IIRC in 1990 they went to a different headstock so 88-89 were the only years these were made with the strat headstock.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I knew you would chime in sooner or later. My friend told me it was cotton candy pink. I dont know if thats the official name or just one he used. He, btw, did not like this guitar. He called it firewood and sold it to me for cheap in the early 90's. He then got an rg550 that he loved. A few years after, when he moved to NYC, I found a green DK1 at a local guitar store. He had me buy it for him sight unseen because he did not have a credit card and was having trouble locating a usa jackson by him. I dont know where either of those guitars ended up. But I know where the "firewood" is and its not going anywhere.

E series serial numbers on the neck by the body where most MIJ guitars were at that time.
Neck plate says Fender USA but we know they were MIJ.
          25.1 scale length as well.
The TBX tone controls kick ass too very wide range of tones in this guitar.
The neck is really nice and one of the best I have played in a long time.
If you can get one you won't be sorry.
Mine has an E90 serial number and the smaller pots and white plastic 5-way switch so I figured it was mij. Ive seen them with the same headstock but a smaller block letter strat logo as opposed to the paintbrush logo ours have. Does this fit into a standard fender molded plastic and foam case? I dont have one to try out but was thinking of ditching the crummy ibanez case (another story) its currently in.

            IIRC isn't that a Super 3 pickup?

Can't quite read it but what does it say next to the E serial number ? Is it "Made in USA" or "Made in Japan" ?

I always thought the earliers ones with the Kahler trems and E Serial numbers were all USA. The last 2 years were all made in Japan and have Original Floyd Rose trems. They have "F" serial numbers for Fuji Gen, the same place that makes Prestige/Japanese Ibanez guitars.

The 1991-92 "F" serial numbered headstocks look like this:

Some had the super 3 and some had a super D from what I could find out.
Mine has the adj hex poles like a super D but I haven't pulled it or measured it yet.
E series numbers appeared on both USA and MIJ guitars too during this time frame.
The neck is 17' radius, 25.1 scale length and the bodies were a bit longer.

Super 3? I thought it was the super 2. Mine has the adjustable hex heads as well. Back when it mattered to me, I was told the way to tell a mij from a mia was that the pots would be smaller size in the mij and the mij 5-way switch would be a white plastic closed deal as opposed to the metal and board open design like most fenders. Mine looks to be mij based on that.

the super 2 I thought was a super bright neck pickup. I thought these were the super 3s.

Rich, youre right. Its the super 3 in this thing. I was mistaken. I know I love how it sounds though.

Great pickup Stray. I have the exact same guitar. I got mine new in 1988 after seeing an add with Greg Howe. I used to love that guy. Only difference is mine has a rosewood board. The color is called "Flash Pink". First guitar I ever bought completely with my money. I was 16 and I loved that guitar. My main player for a long, long time. It's had a bunch of face lifts, and electronic changes. Had a dragon with a purple base put on it in the 90's, and now it's just black. Put some BKP's in it 2 years ago, and she screams! I'll never get rid of this guitar. Fits me like a glove. Can't say enough about these sleepers.

Guitar repair has been pretty good and when something cool pops up I try to snag it.
I've sold a few vintage pieces and some guns here and there so the kitty for gear has been there.
I have been lucky here lately finding vintage Fender and Gibson guitars locally for fair prices and flipping them for a nice profit.
I guess its the economy and people are letting the old guitars Grandpa had go.
Just flipped 2 early50's Gibson LGO's,a Gibson Corvus and a 60's Fender duo sonic.

                                Nice score man.

I used to have a Teal one. They had just come out and a local store had just got some in. I think it was early '87. I happened to be there while they were hanging them up and grabbed this one. It originally had an all Black trem but I had to replace it and could only find a Chrome one. It was a great guitar but it just never felt comfortable after a while of playing. I sold it around 2008 or so.
