It doesn't look like any Aria Pro I've ever seen. It's certainly not a Matsumoku Aria, in which case, I'd stay the hell away from it.

yeah thats what i was thinking. guy said its an 80s aria thats been refinished but ive never seen one like that. i mean they had the ironman but that had a cut out like the alexi esp. he also claims its mahogany and that the kahler is stock.

Craigslist? Same guitar came up for sale last year on CL as "Custom 80's Flying V". Was asking a small fortune for a guitar for which he provided little to no specs or info. It obviously didn't sell then....here's round 2!~

Is it just me or doesn't that resemble the Dean pointy headstock?

it does kind of look like a heavily rounded off version now that you mention it. when the guy said aria i thought maybe a slightly sanded aria headstock.

edit-after looking more closely to the dean vs aria, its closer to the aria as it has more wood than the dean.

                  heres the cl ad

actually its fatter than both. also aria have the lower point almost exactly in the middle of the 4th n 5th tuning peg, but the cl v has the point more like the 5th and 6th tuning peg. i have no idea what this thing is

Ok back to this one, upon further research its a mako guitar. Anyone know about mako? Good/bad?

From what I found Mako used to make Strat, Tele, Les Paul, and Explorer copies as well as modified versions of Stars and Warriors. Couldn't find any evidence of them making a V or RR copy though. It may be a Mako-mutt using their neck but no telling where that body came from. Everything I find points to them going out of business in '89.

Other than the kahler its the same. Its a set neck so a neck swap would have been quite difficult i think. http://oliviasvintageguitars.com/other/guitars/3362/
