  • New paint- Hamer V(ector)

Some of you might remember a post I made a months ago about a custom order Vector (Hamer's arguably superior version of the Gibby V) ordered back in the late 80's. I had it modded to allow for the Floyd to float and had the paint re-done to reflect my own personal taste.

Looks cool! Did you have the Neddi inlay removed?

Thanks, Z- I encountered a bit of resistance over at the Hamer forum and from the uber talented luthier who modded it before the paint, because I was irreversibly changing a custom. That, and some didn't necessarily like a few of my previous refinishes of other Hamers in the harem. Happy to say when I revealed these pics, everyone, including the nay-sayers were digging it.

Crazy story: I was talking with Stike (who did that refin) about some work that he's currently doing for me, and I got on the subject of doing a Rhoads PDV pattern in metalflake (which he does a killer job with), and he told me that he had a schenker/rhoads style Vector in for a respray. I knew it was this one.

Today, I wind up chatting with Neddi, who just put down a deposit on the Sully version of that guitar. Crazy, eh? Foolius Maximus says hi!

Damn, it IS a small world. Kinda funny story behind that respray on the Vector- I had wanted it for a gig I just played last night and Stike was busting his ass to get it done. He sent me photos of the nigh-finished job about 10 days ago and I couldn't open them as I was on vacay with only the cell phone to get emails. Long story short because of a miscommunication, he had it in white and green. You can imagine my surprise when I opened the email's attached pics and saw that. Poor Stike was kicking himself. Kept saying how I could kick his ass etc. I assured him that would not happen as I needed him to finish the Vector and a Cali I'll have on the way soon.
