  • Carvin DC 400 WOW!

Picked this up at the pawn shop for 300.00 with case. This is the best playing guitar I have ever owned, It plays effortlessly, and sounds killer also, I'm stoked beyond words.

Carvin is a love it or hate it thing.
That action is lower than low and totally level the entire length, but its hard to get used too. The Charvel Desolation models are the same way. Stupid-low.
Kind of got in the way of technique.

But for $300, even without a trem, I would have been all over it.

Speaking of tremolo, Carvin is the one guitar that I always thought needed to use a Kahler. The action was set so precisely, that any up and down will eff it all up. Floyd Rose moves, but the Kahler had the stationary saddles.
Carvin and Kahler, the perfect pair.

Nice! Going by that headstock, that's probably a '91. How well does it stay in tune with the cheaper Wilkinson? Most people on their forum don't seem to like those and upgrade to a better version.

Actually the trem is blocked, and it did not come with a trem bar.

Ah, I see. So no tuning problems for you then!

Well, you can fix that by raising the bridge and adding a little backbow... if you're into that.

I am in two minds about the stock pups in my dc. they are good but they lack some bite.

missing trussrod cover? I wouldn't have paid more than $295 for that
