I am looking at these, both up for sale at about the same price. Which one should i pick and why? They are both US made right?

EBMM Axis or Peavey Wolfgang Special

My vote goes to the EBMM. EBMM I think is a higher quality guitar than Peavey and I never liked the Wolfgang body style. I'm not sure what versions of each guitar are USA vs. Import but my USA EBMM Petrucci is a very nice guitar. I would expect a USA Axis to be the same.Rudy

I've got one of each. Both great guitars. The Axis would have higher resale value, I'd think.
Are you talking about a flattop basswood Special or the flame maple flattop? One of the
maple flattop's made in Korea, though there are def. US-built ones out there. These 2
guitars are my main players, FWIW...

some folks, but a great utility guitar. I would think you could get
a Wolfgang Special quite a bit cheaper than a EBMM Axis, though...

Yah, I bet they're both somewhat scarce on your side of the pond...
How is the sound, is it a lot darker since there is no maple top?
Wolf Special seems very bright, esp. considering the basswood body...

I have an EBmm Axis and EVH wolfgang, I've had 2 Peavey's in the past- a USA Special and a Standard ST. The Peavey's have bigger necks than the other two EVH axes. They also do arch tops very well. I found the peavey's sounded darker than how my Axis sounds. The neck on the axis is rounder and more like a fender. You can't go wrong with either. The Peavey will have a higher resale value. If You can find an EVH USA Wolfgang, check one out too. its the "Shredder" of the wolfgang guitars.
