  • EBMM Axis or Peavey Wolfgang Special

I am looking at these, both up for sale at about the same price. Which one should i pick and why? They are both US made right?

My vote goes to the EBMM. EBMM I think is a higher quality guitar than Peavey and I never liked the Wolfgang body style. I'm not sure what versions of each guitar are USA vs. Import but my USA EBMM Petrucci is a very nice guitar. I would expect a USA Axis to be the same.

I like both body styles, i suspect the EBMM might be of better build quality. At least i've never heard anyone complain about their EBMM instrument, be it a bass or a guitar.

My vote is also for the EBMM Axis. Build quality is superb as is their customer service.

I've got one of each. Both great guitars. The Axis would have higher resale value, I'd think.
Are you talking about a flattop basswood Special or the flame maple flattop? One of the
maple flattop's made in Korea, though there are def. US-built ones out there. These 2
guitars are my main players, FWIW...

The Peavey Wolfgang special is a flattop basswood US made.

You can't go wrong with it. I love mine. Maybe a bit plain-Jane for
some folks, but a great utility guitar. I would think you could get
a Wolfgang Special quite a bit cheaper than a EBMM Axis, though...

I live in Denmark though, so prices are quite a lot lot different from you guys, unfortunately How is the sound, is it a lot darker since there is no maple top?

Yah, I bet they're both somewhat scarce on your side of the pond...

No, they're both really bright. Very strong PUPs in each guitar. In fact, the
Wolf Special seems very bright, esp. considering the basswood body...

Never mind resale value or new price, which one is your favorite to play considering neck, pickups the lot

I have an EBmm Axis and EVH wolfgang, I've had 2 Peavey's in the past- a USA Special and a Standard ST. The Peavey's have bigger necks than the other two EVH axes. They also do arch tops very well. I found the peavey's sounded darker than how my Axis sounds. The neck on the axis is rounder and more like a fender. You can't go wrong with either. The Peavey will have a higher resale value. If You can find an EVH USA Wolfgang, check one out too. its the "Shredder" of the wolfgang guitars.

Got this one instead. A Peavey Wolfgang(USA) trans Amber. Should be here in the beginning of next week.
