So, when I bought my fake oversized Kelly from China the guitar was less than $300 and they wanted another $200 for the case, so I didn't opt for it and hoped I'd be able to squeeze it into a worn big rectangle SKB Jackson Kelly case I already had......uuuum, no. LOL So after having it for a few months hanging on the stand a lightbulb went off and I decided why not modify the SKB case to fit. So I cut out a cardboard template of the body and used it as a guide to cut the foam. You can see how much larger this guitar is than a standard size. I also cut out relief for the tuners and for the controls, bridge and upper horn in the lid but was able to save the fabric. I still need to get to the fabric store to cover some of the foam.

It looks kinda Sanford and Son right now. I'm hoping the fabric store has something close to the "fur" lining.Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

Wish I'd caught you before you started cutting. I did the same to a case once and was careful about how I did the cuts, but was able to glue the factory fabric back in place with some careful and patient work. Once I got the shape I needed (I didn't cut the fabric completely off) I was able to lay it right back down pretty much as it was previously and it covered it all.In memory of Gary Wright 9/13/2012

That is what I was able to do in the lid for the controls, bridge, strings and pickups because the case was for a guitar with a recessed trem so the bridge is taller and the case just wouldn't think of closing. That fabric just fit right back into place because I didn't have to re-shape the glued side. The parts around the bottom that have bare foam, the fabric had too much glue and it just broke up in my hands when trying to flatten it.Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

The intonation is spot on, I did replace the bridge with a gotoh and set it up myself so I took my time with it. The scale looked funny to me when I got it, but it was an optical illusion from the 27 frets and measured 25.5. It stays in tune very well with the gotoh locking tuners I installed. I would be comfortable gigging it. Like I said it feels very close to the quality that my RR5 was. But make no mistake, this is not quite on par with the RR1 I just bought.Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!
