Picked up a Carvin DC125 this past weekend. MINT

Found it on the used wall at the GC next to my house. It looks like it's never been played. No scratches or swirl marks anywhere on the front or back, frets look brand new, plays like a dream. This guitar with these options is about $1650 from Carvin, got it for $550 w/the case.

You lucky sob....love the rounded shape very sexy...since a case runs around $100 to $150 you got the guitar for about $400.00. They say the only "problem" with Carvins is in the resell market.....You seem to have SOLVED that problem!...I'm jealous...how come I never find these deals ??????

Beautiful....congrats. Carvins are great guitars. Believe me when I tell you that this is one I WISH I DIDN'T SELL! 1986 DC125....ouch.

That's starting to change. In GC's Used Gear section, they have several Carvins right now for $800.00 to $1200.00. Granted, that's cheaper than the original $1600.00-ish retail price, but..... they typically have Jackson SL2H and SL1 models for $1200.00-$1400.00, when they sold new for over $2000.00. So yeah, Carvin resale is going up. They're also about to switch from the name Carvin to Kiesel Guitars. The Kiesel family has always owned Carvin and they changed it in the 1940's (I think) over a contract dispute.

It has an original Floyd (German, according to their sales rep), quilted maple top in Deep Aquaburst finish, birdseye maple fingerboard, maple 5-piece neck-through with alder body, back of body painted to match, quilted headstock to match body finish, stainless jumbo frets, abalone diamond inlays, chrome knobs with abalone tops.

The price? A bit over $1800.00.

I was wanting an SL2H with maple fingerboard for a long time, but a Custom Shop would be about a 2-year wait and cost me probably $3000.00 plus, and there's no return policy. With Carvin I can get what I want within a couple of months, brand new with a warranty.

It's tough to beat.

You're right - they are tough to beat. I used to live a half mile from the factory, just "dropping by" the showroom became a nasty habit . Plus I loved Vicki Petersen's (The Bangles) white Carvin in the "Walk Like an Egyptian" video.....there ya go - the secret is out .

Thanks guys. The more I play it the more I like it. And the rounded body edges make it much more comfortable to play. I'd been wanting a carvin for quite a while but when I had the money all the used ones had crazy options, a million knobs and switches, and were just not really what I wanter. So when I saw this one and played it, I had to have it. This is pretty much what I would order if I got a new on. The only 2 things I wish it had are a single coil sustainer in the neck, and a tone knob.
