Yes. In 2011 I ordered a 7-string... maple body, 5-piece tung oiled mahogany/maple neck, one pickup with one push/pull volume control. About the $1400- $1500 range.

In 2014 I orderd an 8-string... alder body, maple neck, mahogany top, one pickup with one/push pull volume... pretty much the same price range.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

If you're set on a Jackson, another option is to buy a used one and send it off to someone like GMW Guitars. They can retop it to change the pickup or control layout and then refinish it in your choice of paint or graphic. In the end, you'll end up with a customized guitar without paying the custom shop price. Check out their Facebook page for some recent Jackson projects they have done.
