  • Anyone check out the new Carvin / Kiesel

Wow - @ the $1,200 - $1,300 mark these are some serious guitars.

If past Carvins are any indication of quality - and my understanding is that Kiesel is suppose to be their higher tier / more customizable line.

Carvins are great. I want one of the new headless Vader models.

Co-signed. I've been seriously thinking about a Carvin for some time and since the Vader's were unveiled been jones'ing for one of those, hard.

Don't forget that the guitars in the pic for each model are not the base-spec ones that the price is based on...

But yeah, I'm tempted too. If the Vader had a trem, I'd be super tempted and I have no idea why LOL
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Same here. In fact, I went to Hipshot's website to see if they offer a tremolo version, but no. They make tremolo units but not for the headless system.

And sadly, yes, I also now want a Vader.

Carvins are great guitars, helluva bang for the buck. I have one of their A/Es, top notch.

The only thing is how their body styles are all a little quirky, and slightly off. I know that's a taste and personal preference thing but, if they were just a little more mainstream, I'd love them even more. And, oh, the pickups are weird looking. LOL

That's the way I view the 80's Kramers, or at least the ESP-made imports. I still have a Focus 1000 I bought new in 1986. It's sort of like an "offset Strat" shape. It never really bugged me, but I do think it's a bit strange.

I think it's cool the 6-string is available with 25.5" scale as well as 27".

I like my 8-string with 27" and prefer my 7s and 6s with 25.5", but I might go with this in a 7 eventually.

If there were a trem option available I would probably be putting in an order next week. And if I love this DC600 as much as I think I will, I might anyway.

all that, and only a few weeks build time as well

                            Jackson/Charvel should take notes

I started more than one thread here about my aggravation with the Jackson Custom Shop. I don't understand why they consider putting a maple fingerboard on an SL2H as a "woodworking change." Really? Does maple require a different cutting pattern or blades than ebony? Somehow I suspect not. Now if I wanted longer horns or a carved top, then yeah, that's a woodworking change. Plus I don't like the fact that it takes them six months to even start planting the trees.
