I was thinking the same thing. A top like that is pretty commonplace
on Carvins--for, what, a quarter of the price?

Not even a quarter. I seriously don't mean to keep posting this, but this guitar was just over $1800.00 with hardshell case included two months ago:

          Neck-Thru Maple with Alder wings
          5-Piece neck (Maple and Mahogany)
          Original Floyd Rose
          Aquaburst finish over Quilted Maple
          Coil Splitting

They also have the Single Cut series which are basically Les Paul body styles and those can be had, very nicely equipped, for around $2000.00 or so.

Someone needs to them it doesn't matter how many fucking A's it has if you can't bookmatch it better than a retarded monkey on bath salts.

God damn Maple Inflation to hell! All those people with 9A tops will be crying in their milk when that 300A stuff hits the market. Even the quilt's quilt has quilts!

I love the paradox it creates with the Gibson fanbois. They judge the quality of any LP by how close it is to the '59. But the flame on the original '59's were nice but not uber-tops. So if you put an uber-mega flame-AAAAAAA-top on a LP, it diverges from the '59 and is by definition inferior. What to do?!?

I honestly would not even grade that a 5A... Maybe the dark wine finish dulls the grade, but as seen in this thread, I have been wow'd by a lot less expensive guitars.

The PRS 10 Tops give me a WOW factor that I have never gotten from a Gibson, and I am a Gibson fan!

Reflecting on this, I wounder if the Nitro Gibson uses dulls some the brightness and adds some yellow fog. I have seen interviews with Paul Reed Smith commenting on the specific clear coat chemistry they have developed to get that WOW factor?

It's also the weirdest Caddy you'll ever see. It's a bolt-on with a Charvel feeling unfinished neck. Dean did some weird stuff in 1996.

Nice. Wouldn't have guessed it was bolt-on.

When is the madness gonna stop? 7A? 40th Anniv.? 10,700 bucks? Jeebus fucking H Christ. Just wanna kick squarely in the nuts any midlife, man cave schlub or douche bag wanna be collector who shells out that kinda cash for that bogus hokum.

Yeah, a little hypocrisy on my part as I paid 4+ grand for a "custom shop" Fire Tiger Axcess and dropped an additional 600 bucks in it to get to play half decently (cheap Chinese components, POS MIK Floyd 1000 trem that couldn't hold tuning in a fucking Samsonite, shitty pick ups) but in my defense, I've got some insight and grounds on which to make such a claim.

And who the fuck decided that a dark red trans was best for showing off this so-called 7A top?

                              Madness I tell ya! Madness!

Quilts don't belong on Les Pauls anyway
