  • NGD: Some ESP goodness

figured I'd take advantage of Tax free weekend here in mass so I took a ride over the the Axe Palace and
Nick hooked me up with an Eclipse II at a great price. My first non floyded guitar in 15 years
going to take me a while to get used to playing on a fixed bridge.
thinking maybe Motor city Pickups for this one, anyone here try those yet?

If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Congrats. I took advantage of the tax free weekend as well. Had planned on picking up a new acoustic but unfortunately I ended up with a new vacuum cleaner instead. It really sucks.

That looks really cool! I'm not really crazy about most body binding, but that looks nice.

Nice, been real hungry for an Eclipse since Gary Holt's signature came out. The 999$ model costs nearly 1600$ in Sweden so... Might just try and get ahold of a second-hand ESP Eclipse at half the price. Would love one in Silverburst.

I had the chance to play quite a few of these at the Axe Palace. he has USA custom Shop, MIJ ESP the II's and the LTD's.
for me the II was easily the best route to go. the Feel was quite a step up form the LTD's and much more affordable than the USA/japan custom shop models.

Been sorely tempted on these but have only run into the ltd version in stores. How is the neck?

                  the neck is pretty comfy
this is a very different feeling guitar from a Jackson or a Charvel.
1 5/8th nut, 12" radius 24.75 scale length, no floyd (this is quite a departure for me LOL!)
but it does have a slimmer neck than a real Les Paul and it's got real jumbos.
those 2 things pushed me in this direction away from an Actual Les Paul.
this one has an Ebony board, which apparently are a little bit tougher to find?
I've been playing it a lot the last couple of days, it's still very shreddable.
I needed a fixed bridge guitar, and I wanted something different.
this fits the bill, quality looks good, the EMGs have got to go but besides that so far I am pretty pleased with it.

Thanks for the detailed reply, much appreciated.

If it's not an issue, could you PM me what he let it go for? I look for them used and there are no great deals.... Might be easier to just go new.

Annnnnd finally picked up one of these in "amber cherry sunburst". Was thinking more the white or the black, but the top on this one looked pretty good in the pics. Should be here later in the week.

Lust for a particular piece of gear may downshift, but it never truly goes away. Ultimately it finds expression in one form or another. I need to stop going to guitar forums.

kmanick- did you find something that worked well when you swapped the EMGs? I'll probably leave them be for now but eventually the other imperative (modify) will kick in.

                          Grats!

And I like the Eclipses better than Gibsons. I think they do a better job. Their trans tops are nice too.

                          ESP makes great guitars.
