You guys are all welcome, thank you so much for the enthusiastic response to my post! There is a lot of Hamer love here for sure. As far as my replica SS-3, it is built of poplar as are my Washburn SS's. You can tell by the construction shots.
This guitar was built for me and given to me for free by Matt Lee Phillips of Texas now LA. Matt is a great guy and he hand builds some amazing guitars including the best replica SS-80 and 100's Washburns that you can find.
I helped Matt with the information from my research into the Washburn Steve Stevens guitars http://www.vintagewashburn.com/Electrics/SteveStevens.html
Matt repaid the favor by building this amazing replica which is very very accurate.
I owned a Hamer SS-2 at one time but sold it to a friend and I did own an incredible 1987 Chapparal Custom in Ice Pearl snakeskin painted by the legendary Jim O'Connor whom I became friends with,
Saddly I was forced to sell this beauty and two other guitars to help pay bills and provide for my family after I lost my main job in 2011 and ended up losing my house, bankrupt again ect.
I am now on SS disability and have a rental home praise God. I never buy anything to flip or anything all my guitars have a story and I always had hoped to keep them. I still have some killer axes though!
Here are some pictures of Matt's handiwork, he builds to spec and can do the SS 100 Frankenstein of custom graphics and he absolutely build killer guitars for not a lot of money.
I see lately he has joined a band in LA so I am not sure how much he is building at the moment but know he will always build guitars.
