  • Kinda Sorta NGD - revised Gibson Les Paul Custom

OK so not a true NGD as I purchased this 2010 Custom Shop Les Paul Custom a couple months ago, but feels like a much better NGD today now that I finally got it set up to what I had envisioned.

    Mods:
    removed pickguard
    custom milled corian nut
EMG 85/81 pickups, shrink wrapped battery
Tone Pros locking bridge & tailpiece
Sperzel TrimLok locking tuners, doweled holes
    Switchcraft chrome toggle switch
Gibson vintage toggle washer with white lettering
    Schaller security locks
Stewart McDonald black screws/jack plate & nickel jack washer/nut

A modern twist on a classic

Yeah I guess so. I don't really know much about Trivium but I like watching their youtube videos. He's a talented player.

If I saw it hanging on a store rack, played it and enjoyed the neck, It would be purchased. I purchased my Fender None More Black off a wall... wasn't even looking for or needing another guitar... the neck and fretwork felt good so it was an instabuy.

The only thing I would do is probably put the 85 in the bridge. Of course, it's not one hum and doesn't have a Floyd, but otherwise I don't think I could find another one I like better. I'd probably have to find a custom Navigator LP or ESP Mirage to get any better. It'd probably be impossible to find an identical gloss black Navigator... Most of those are vintage finish.

FWIW, I have a very weak spot for black guitars.

once in a while a gloss black Eclipse will pop up on the bay. Usually a 3 knob but occasionally a 4.

Yeah, but I'd rather have a more classic Gibson LP Custom style than an eclipse. I'd call dibs on yours but yeah, I got too much junk I need to get rid of before I can consider buying anything. lol

Pics of the shrink wrap? I loves me some shrink wrap.

Damn you missed the boat player and you coulda had it cheap too! Within 24 hours of me posting my NGD threads someone pirated the pics and posted a bogus ad on Reverb. Then some dipshit ignored the fact the seller had just signed up that day, ignored the fact the seller had no feedback, ignored the fact the name Samantha Clark was spelled Samanta Klarck, ignored the fact it was a $3K+ guitar listed for $750 and bought it. LMMFAO. Out of principle, I called Reverb this morning to give them the heads up they probably want to contact the buyer to break the bad news to him.

I then emailed the seller to see if the if the guitar is still available, cuz I'm interested. But alas Reverb deactivated the account. Guess I shant hold my breath for a response.

Nice. I like the specs, although I've never tried EMG's. I think 2010 was the last year Gibson used actual ebony.
