  • Really nice Tacoma USA acoustic

Had this one in for new strings and a clean up.
    What a nice playing/sounding guitar.
You don't see many USA made Tacomas so I had to take some pics and share it.
Much better than the last Taylor 714 I had.

Tacomas are great sounding and playing guitars! The only downside of them is they did not get the finish correct and it comes off. Tacoma rash is what it is called over at the Tacoma Guitar Forum. Fing Fender bought them and killed them off. I own 5 of them.

I've seen a couple with finish issues; both gloss finishes with huge clear gloss flakes that just cracked, lifted and fell off. Fortunately my EKK9 has a thin finish at best so no issues of the sort.

Wow, better than a taylor 714? I was thinking of upgrading my acoustic to either a guild or a taylor but this tacoma post peaked my interest. How are the necks on these?
I like the Taylor neck shape and low action/playability. Just can't stomach the cost...lol

I'd say the neck is quite comfortable and on the smaller side in both neck width and back thickness; at least it feels that way to me in comparing it to the two Alvarez-Yairi's I've owned and a Yamaha of my son's. For the $350.00 I paid for the EKK9 I have zero complaints. I ran across another Tacoma at my local MGR for $499.99, also solid wood and it was gone in 2 days. If you find a good one w/o the finish issues mention, they're not only a nice quality guitar but a good value as well.
