  • Ormsby Hypemachine and Sully Elita

Last weekend my friend Pat came up from Houston with his Ormsby Hypemachine and his Sully Elita to hang out a bit. It was great to see the Elita again, and I was really interested in checking out the Hypemachine. What a guitar! The multiscale took me a bit of getting used to, but if you don't look where you're playing, it seemed to help speed up the acclimation process.

I figured that it was a nice photo opportunity, as there aren't too many people that have an Ormsby and a Sully. Yet.

I had to mess with Perry a bit...

Very nice! I'd not noticed that the Sully head is very similar to the Ormsby with the 'elliptical' edge moved further out..
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Yep; when Perry came up with it, he joked with me that one of the first bits of feedback he got was "...looks like a Sully."

The neck on the Ormsby looks like it's twisted through about 45 degrees at a first glance!
Do I have to buy a Sully to get my hands on a sweet sticker?

Awesome! Those fanned frets look pretty cool, but I've never tried one.

They're pretty neat. Admittedly, it'd take me a bit to acclimate, especially at the uppermost and lowermost registers of the fretboard, but chording was a breeze.

getting a TX GTR in Perry's second production run. A 6 string multi in Ink Blue. Was tempted to get a 7, but multiscale will be difference enough for this guitar

So strictly speaking, I won't have guitars made BY Sully & Perry. But I have JS-0002, assembled by Sully. And I'll have an Ormsby made in Korea by World

                        One day though...

Hmmm wow !! When I'm sitting/playing my LP, I find my hand/fingers go to that angle. I have to turn my hand back to straight because it gets caught in the cutaway ..while reaching upper frets.

My hands are kinda large, but not THAT large. It's just the way I play. I only have this prob with Gibby SGs and LPs..not Strats and ect.

This is something I never seen before. But seems like a bright light epiphany!

                            Very cool!

                            Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
