  • World Musical Instruments - Who Do They Build For?

Or in proper King's English, For Whom Do They Build?

Seriously, I've seen them mentioned a LOT on this board and now I'm curious; what guitars are built by them? I'm interested in checking them out at some point.

I think Xeno has the most info on this

From the top of my head I know they do the (upper) BC Riches and PRS SE's

No, I think Lepard knows the most about it.

LTDs, PRS SE, BC Rich, older Deans... and a couple I'm completely forgetting about. diamond / DBZ as iced_earth mentioned.

If Jackson had World Guitars building for them, I would actually be buying them.

Here's a copy of a post I put up a few days ago:

As far as I know right now, these are the companies still using World Musical Instruments Korea. Dean does NOT use World, they use UnSung(Dean did use World from the mid-90's to 2007ish).

          1. DBZ/Diamond set neck models
          2. BC Rich higher end neck-thru models
          3. PRS SE's
          4. ESP LTD neck-thru "Deluxe" models
          5. Schecter higher end neck-thru models
          6. Zakk Wylde's guitars(if they ever come to production)

I have another World Musical Instruments Korea BC Rich on it's way, going to be here on Monday.

As of right now, there really isn't much being made by World Guitars. Most of the manufacturers have moved away from Korea to China and Indonesia. There is a World Guitars Indonesia plant too that puts out fairly decent guitars. If you notice on the Indonesian Jackson guitars, some have a W in the serial number "IW" and some have an S "IS". You will find that the IW guitars (World Musical Instruments) and significantly better built than the "IS" (Samick) guitars.

There is a tele style one at a store by me. I am thinking of getting it.

It is his model and finish

Never. All the Korean Ibanez guitars(very mediocre) were made by Samick.

I spent sometime with the PRS SE and LTD's that are all from world today at guitar center. I have to say, I was impressed with everyone I picked up. The SE with the Floyd is pretty awesome and I actually more often than not gravitate away from floyds these days. Great price point. With the SE series well all the PRS I have owned had that too high of a gloss feel, still present with the SE line, which sucks but I must say they definitely feel like a PRS. I was playing through a Cantrell Friedman. Great amp wish I could have opened it up though.

Man, I was at a Guitar Center out of town Thursday and they had a neck-thru quilt top Mockingbird with Floyd in the used section for $279. It was a World Musical Instruments guitar and was mint. It was so damn good, I just almost bought it. If it wasn't for another World neck-thru BC Rich I just bought Tuesday evening(arrives Monday), I would have snagged that thing.
