NGD: MIJ EVH Wolfgang Special

I had a hardtail one of these two years ago. I really liked it, but I missed having a Floyd Rose. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for another Japanese made Wolfgang, and when this one came around, I had to get it.

The birdseye maple is beautiful on this one. I just finished restringing and setting it up how I want, and I'm really glad to have a Wolfgang again. These guitars just play themselves.

I'm not a fan of the low friction volume and tone pots, and will likely replace them at some point. I also intend to ditch the D Tuna...also not a fan.

I've never used a Dtuna outside of a store. I have always had recessed floods so never could but how bad are they? Beautiful guitar by the way..

It just feels stiff and it's a pain in the ass to setup. I don't see myself using it, to be honest.

If you have a flush Floyd and want to check it out, I can drop it in the mail for you after I change my strings next month to give it a more in depth test run. It works well enough when you take the time to set it up, but it makes using the low E fine tuner a pain and just isn't worth the hassle to me.

Yes dtuna severely limits range of E fine tuner and makes it stiff as hell. PITA for sure. If I needed D tune floyd and couldn't have a 2nd guitar I probably wouldn't play D tune....not that I do anyway...but yeah.

Nuno has a model with the D-tuna on it....big ass route for it to pull up into!
