    Gone the Floyd route!

    Full specs

The JP16 is a combination of the original Music Man John Petrucci signature model and later Ball Family Reserve models. Highlights include a lightweight basswood body with high gloss Black Lava finish and a new Floyd Rose 1000 Pro Floating Tremolo system. The JP16 also features the return of the original scooped forearm contour which will provide many hours of playing comfort. First fret JP16 logo, stainless steel frets and a smokey ebony fretboard are standard options on the ultra thin and fast figured/roasted maple neck. A pair of DiMarzio Sonic Ecstasy humbuckers and 20+ dB gain boost push/push volume pot provide the JP16 with plenty of sizzling tone.

I am a big EBMM guy - I pretty much dumped all my Jacksons to start getting them (and PRSi) - but I do NOT get why JP has 16 signature models other than his fanbois will keep buying them. I mean, at least this one offers up something different, but the EBMM trem works just as well and stays in tune just as well as a Floyd. Don't get it at all.......
    GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

    and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

He doesn't have 16 models I don't think. The 16 is 2016 model. With the majesty line and the 7 string he may have over 16 models though. Anyway yeah fanboys will buy it. I have had a couple currently own one and damn they are fine guitars. I like the trem in it for sure but I can see how offering a Floyd could be good marketing for them.

I don't get it, either. They also went the cheap route with the Korean 1000 series Floyd Pro instead of the German Floyd Pro which they still make.

I'm with markD and toejam. I don't get this one. I own 2 JP6 and never never had an issue with the stock trems. Once you set it up properly, it stays in tune very fine. Those 2 guitars are by fare the best guitars I have in my collection. For the price I got them, the quality is very good.

            I don't get it either ... Floyd Rose 1000 on a $2,500 + US made guitar ?

Aren't these the same Floyds they put on import J/Cs ? It's not like this is a Sterling model ......

They could have thrown on the the rebranded Gotoh from the Axis / EVH they've been using for years .....

I didn't realize they went with a 1000. What are they thinking?

I was looking forward to this one. Always had a thing for the #16 so I waited to see what the 16 would offer over the 15. What a disappointment. They removed two of the features that were unique: the bridge and the piezo.
