$500 is too much, especially when it "must be sold asap"

Hell, you use to be able to buy an ec-1000 new for $550 at some of those online dealers that sell their stuff for $50 profits but make up for it in volume.
      CAD$550 = USD$434.

By that measure, USD$499 for the DBZ close-out sale posted by lepard in post #100 is also not a good deal. (Related note: Here are the other DBZs on sale on the same website: https://www.worldmusicsupply.com/clo...tars&filter=25)

yeah it was me, you got a problem with that?

Nice score! I had a cheap LTD Eclipse with P-90s about 10 years ago, can't remember if it was Korean or Indonesian, but it was pretty nice, and its stacked P-90s actually sounded really good.

Thanks to this forum I have been introduced to all those Rob Chapman videos. They're addicting.

I know this isn't WMI, but what I'm watching now is the PRS SE Standard (made by PT Wildwood in Indonesia) and they seem to also be a good bang for their price range (though lower than the WMI Korean PRS SE line). Christ, this Youtube channel give me major GAS.
I had an opportunity to go into the city earlier this week, so I tried out an Indonesian Custom 24 and a Korean Custom 24 that Ikebe had at their Shibuya location. To be honest, I wasn't impressed by either. I still have a PRS CE that I bought new back in 1992 with the same "wide thin" neck profile as the above guitars, so it wasn't the neck shape. My PRS plays itself, whereas I felt that I had to coax notes out of the MII and MIK guitars.

But then again, I also tried out a Mexican Charvel Pro Mod and didn't like it much either, so maybe I just like guitars that I set up for myself.

              • Any feedback on the Schecter Damien Elite-6? http://www.schecterguitars.com/inter...elite-6-detail

Schecter's naming scheme is confusing, so it's difficult to determine the ranking of each of their models.

The only relevant JCF thread I could find is this: http://www.jcfonline.com/threads/449...ghlight=damien

Local one was listed for CAD$400 (USD$313 at today's exchange rate) with generic teardrop-shaped hardshell case. The seller says the back of the headstock actually says it's made in South Korea, and gave me the serial number which starts with W, indicative of World Musical Instruments in South Korea, instead of Indonesia as the Schecter website states above. The seller says he owned this guitar for five years. Perhaps WMI made the Damien Elite-6 at first, with the more elaborate inlays as pictured below, then production eventually moved to the current Indonesian factory and the guitar had the simpler inlays shown on the Schecter website.

                Thoughts?

                  • I knew some Ibanez guitars were made in Korea but I think tonight I finally connected the dots to World Musical Instrument Co. Ltd. definitively manufacturing Ibanez.

Ibanez serial numbers are unique identifiers placed on instruments sold under the Ibanez brand. Ibanez guitars have used serial numbers since the mid 1970s. The first serial numbers on Ibanez acoustic guitars appeared in October 1974[1] Serial numbers on solid body guitars came a bit later with the first appearing on the neck plate of bolt-on neck models around August 1975. The practice wasn't fully adopted on set-neck guitars until sometime in 1976. The serial numbers are generally a character

                    World Co. production; "W" + 6 digits (1999–2008)
                    Seven characters
                    W M Y ####
                    1 letter (W) 1 alphanumeric character 1-digit number 4-digit number
                    Examples: W842827 (August 2004)
                    WZ01928 (December 2000)

W = manufactured by the World Musical Instrument Co. in Incheon
                    M = alphanumeric representing the month (1=January...9=September, X=October, Y=November, Z=December)
Y = final digit of the year (9=1999 through 8=2008)
                    #### = consecutive production number for the month

Example headstock serial number below. Guitar is an Ibanez SZ520QM.

                    • I started another thread on this, but do any of you know who made a guitar with a serial number starting with "H?"

It's on a Schecter Hellraiser. Could the "H" even stand for Hellraiser and it's a WMI instrument?

                      • Ever since you posted about that H-serial Schecter, I've been dying to know too, but nobody has responded.

In my local area, there's another inexpensive set-neck Schecter superstrat with the great Ultra Access heel and I'm trying to find reasons not to pursue it. Based on the specs on the Schecter website, I know it's another great South Korean build. I just have too many guitars.

                        • The WMI Schecter, LTD and DBZ guitars are pretty much the same guitar with just a little different trim. You know, I have a bunch of neck-thru and set-neck WMI guitars but not a single WMI bolt-on. I would be curious to know if they are just as good ???

                          • Well, I picked up a WMI today. I can't actually take it home until next Saturday because it's on admin hold at Guitar Center. But it's bought and paid for.

                            It is:

                            B.C. Rich ASM Pro

                            "E" serial number

                            EMG 81/85

                            Neck-through-body

                            Original Floyd

                            Ebony fretboard

                            Abalone inlays

This thing plays like butter. No kidding. The frets are a bit grungy, but the first thing I do on a newly-acquired guitar is polish the frets and lemon oil the board.

By the way, Gibson now pretty much owns UnSung Korea and has kicked a lot of other guitar manufacturers out. That's why all the new Korean Deans are World instead of UnSung now.
