  • NGD and my gear (Kiesel/Carvin content)

    Just got the black one in. It's a Carvin TLB60 ... bolt-on strat/tele hybrid basically. Plays like butter straght out of the box, and I'm diggin' the TBH60 mini hum in the bridge. Bought this one as a backup basically to my other three TL60s. They've all got obvious upgrades (trems, neck-thru, aesthetics, etc.), but this one is still top notch.

    Other gear here is Carvin V3m amps, a Baltic birch 212 slant cabinet, and my Carvin AC375. Everything plays and sounds great. You can hear some of my recordings here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaZ...gyccZ3A/videos (mic'd V3m)

    I'm really considering ordering a Kiesel Vader 7 multiscale....

      I'm digging that AC375. I've toyed with ordering a 12 string one, and I've got an AC175 now. Cool guitars.

        Great Carvin collection! Congrats! I really like Carvins. I just had 2 builds done in the last 6 months and couldn't be happier with the Custom Shop service, reasonable wait time (8 - 9 weeks), and quality.
        And I don't get paid to say this.....

          I'm so glad to see a TLB with the standard headstock instead of the duck monstrosity. Great stable.

              One's basically a back up to the other but I try to swap them out evenly. Have the V3mc as well but about to sell it because I'd rather have 2 heads than a head and a combo.

                I guessing you kinda like Carvin a bit.

                How does the v3 compare to the legacy?

                  They are very different. I've never used a V3M or any of the new Legacy heads, but comparing a Gen 1 Legacy to a pre-reverb V3;

                  The Legacy's biggest downfall was its lack of a master volume. The tone stack reminds me a lot like a Bogner; dark and thick. The clean channel was great.

                  The V3 has a much broader EQ range in the drive channels. It doesn't sound like anything else per se, it just sounds good period. It was my first tube amp, and I've kicked around the idea of picking up one of the new ones with the reverb just to see what it sounds like now that I've grown as a player. I was using it almost strictly for modern metal tones, so I never dove into what it can do. But it did modern high gain well through a 2x12 Mesa cab, that's all I remember.

                  Given how affordable V3s are on the used market, it may actually be worth giving another shot.

                      I had a pre-reverb V3 and loved it. I also got a V3M and loved it so much, I sold the regular V3. The regular V3 has more global EQ options and smart effects loop, but I really enjoy the small package and EL84s of the V3M.
