  • New Gary Moore Tribute Stratocaster!

Just announced, sorry no details yet but this is a tribute to one of Gary Moore's most famous guitars, his 1961 Fiesta Red Stratocaster bought when he was in the Greg Lake Band. Gary had Jim Dunlop jumbo frets fitted early on and this guitar was a staple of his live act for many years in the early to mid eighties. This guitar is courtesy of the Fender Custom Shop and should be a great guitar as is the original. Gary featured it a few years back on his Jimi Hendrix tribute show:
Gary Moore, Darrin Mooney do Foxey Lady for The Jimi Hendrix Experience 40th anniversary tribute concert at the Hippodrome in London.

There will probably be a ridiculous price attached to it no matter what

So... what is so special about this? A red, '61 Strat with a rosewood board. I don't see the allure of this one at all.

Yeah, I don't get this one at all. A strat is just not what (I would wager) most people associate with Gary at all. Cash in, not tribute..

Early solo Gary, it was all this Strat & the Peter Green LP. So I guess it depends on when you got on board. Maybe some US metalheads discovered him around the single-hum Charvel days, or remember him from earlier with a Gibson with Thin Lizzy. Although it was only slightly later that he was rocking Hamers on album covers & in concert. I'd wager for a lot of the US market, they would have first discovered him around Still Got The Blues, so they'd think of the Green LP & his Heritage sigs

If anything Charvel should release a version of his custom made red strat shape with the single humbucker, I remember him playing that one on Wild Frontier and After The War tours.

If it's got jumbo frets and kinman pickups I'd be interested hehe.

I thought that Gary's red strat had a top mount Floyd on it and a single humbucker?

                            That's his Charvel "Strat".

                            This is his Fender Stratocaster
