  • Any info on Tracer Performer Series USA (Strat knockoff)?

Did my Google and JCF research and found very little. Here's a thread with pics and speculative info: http://www.strat-talk.com/threads/wh...-guitar.61131/

There's one listed locally for $200. Anyone know anything about these? Can anyone confirm they are a Peavey budget line, and that they're made in USA? If they were made by Peavey, why wouldn't there be the word "Peavey" anywhere on the headstock?

And I'm not talking about the Peavey Tracer, which is a different guitar entirely.

    More pics below.

From someone who was into late 80's Peaveys (Vandenbergs and Tracers), I don't think there is anything related to peavey on this thing. Peavey tracers dont have strat headstocks.

i think this internet question/comment is probably accurate:

I wonder why people on the internet thought there was a connection to Peavey just because of the Tracer name. It's not like the word Peavey is mentioned anywhere on the Tracer brand guitars. It seems almost as absurd as linking Randy Rhoads to the Fender Rhodes piano. A similar name does not a connection make.

Thanks for the experienced perspective MountainDog. Easy to avoid this listed guitar.

Peavey made a lot of different Tracers in fhe late 80's, some with 25.5" scale, some with 24-3/4" scale (the ones with "89" in their name were the short scale). My favorite was the Tracer Deluxe 89, basically a Vandenberg with a maple board, I have a couple of these (as well as a couple Vandys).

IIRC I worked on that guitar a few years ago. All I remember it is just another strat knockoff, nothing special.
