  • Ordered an ESP E-II Arrow 7

Hey! So, after my Jackson KV Pro, I ordered an ESP E-II Arrow 7 string. It's almost the same as my Jackson in contruction. Alder body, maple neck through, Ebony board. 25,5 scale length. And, EMG 57-7 and 66-7. I wanted to go Jackson again, but, for starters, it costs double than what I payed for the Arrow. Really love the Corey Beaulieu model. But the inlays are... kinda meh, would have loved the standard inlays a lot. LOT more, and, would have liked a tone knob, but oh well, even the Arrow doesn't have one. The only reason that got me from getting the King V was, the cost. Oh, and the deal was killer. I paid $1770 (+/- $5, depending on exchange rate) Which is apparently cheaper than it is in US, Germany, and Japan. Sweet. Now, I'll just have to wait around 4 months for the guitar to arrive. And that's through the official Russian seller. lol

Anyway, do you guys have 7 strings? Or other ESP or E-II guitars? Impressions? Opinions? Let's discuss ^^

I love the ESP Arrow, especially the Andromeda finish but you have to pay the big bucks for a full ESP Custom to get that one.

I ordered this. A plain black finish. Same shape and specs, just 7 strings. I might change PU's to 81-7 and 707-TW someday. That way, it'll essentially be a 7 string version of my Jackson, same woods, pickups, hardware (except tuners). However, different electronics as the Jackson has a tone knob

Looks like World Musical Instruments S. Korea is now making neck-thru Arrow's with EMG's and an Original Floyd Rose trem under the LTD name. Some seem pretty reasonable on eBay............. tempting !

They're pretty good. The only minus for me is, Rosewood fingerboard. Heck, I never had a quality rosewood fingerboard, just a very cheap one on my old Givson (yes, you heard it, Givson, NOT Gibson) And it felt horrible, but then again, it's a horrible $80 guitar. But the shape is good. I might be buying an Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom if there can't be a decent Monarkh run, so, that'll have a rosewood fingerboard. Other than the rosewood fingerboard, the guitar is killer

Having spent some time reading up on the WMI threads and now owning a PRS SE Custom 24 I'm beginning to think that buying one of these instead of one of the current Jackson Rhoads models might be a better idea (heresy!). Two questions for the ESP / LTD folks:

              1. how can I make sure that a LTD 400 series guitar is made in WMI?
              2. how does the "Arrow" compare to the King V (I have a Mille from Kreator Jackson from India) and the Rhoads?

Check the back of the headstock for the serial number. A WMI-made guitar will say Korea and its serial number will begin with W as seen in the below example.

Thanks NotP, any idea where an L12345678 serial numbered LTD originates?

A 400 series is the sort of thing I am looking at and they seem to come from all over the place, I think I even saw one EC 401 that said "China" on the back of the headstock.

Dammit I'm in Euro-land so actually getting my hands on one of these is not that easy. It looks to me like the 2016 builds of Arrow 401s at WMI is a recent thing because based on the photos on Thomann.de the 2015s and 2016s they have are Indonesian.

Tangent alert : does anyone know if the GJ2 Inspiration Concorde guitars are WMI?

I would be more than happy to answer your second question once I get my Arrow, but, alas, it'll not be in my hands before April. So, sorry to make you wait. And, to be honest, I suggest you to wait, save up a bit more, and get an E-II. It'll have an Ebony fingerboard and an Original FR. LTD's have rosewood fingerboard and 1000 series Floyd Rose. Now, the 1000 series is totally amazing and stable, which is what I have in my KV pro, and, it's an amazing guitar. I love it. But, I think an Ebony fingerboard is better. Though, I have no real experience. So, there's that

Here is an example of an LTD 400 Series that is made at the WMI factory in Korea.

Note the back of the headstock states "Korea" with a serial number that starts with W.
