So happened to look at Facebook on my phone this afternoon and in one of our local gear trading groups, one of the members posted "Would anyone be interested in a genuine vintage 80's Roscoe shreder for $300?". I thought about it for 2.5 seconds and said "I'll take it".Turns out he was trolling the local pawn shops and picked it up to flip (which means he literally hit it for practically nothing...).

Anyway it's a marble finish, lightly flamed maple neck with a pretty rosewood fret board, Kahler Spyder tremolo, Seymour Duncan Custom Custom Trembucker at the bridge and a Duncan single at the neck. Also had the trem arm (bonus) and a hard shell case. $300 is a song for one of these as he said "Hey man, there's about five guys trying to buy this out from under you..." when we were discussing meeting up.
It's got some dings and finish checking/cracks, but once the filth was removed it looks decent for a player's guitar...and that neck!

Keith Roscoe makes very expensive guitars and basses. I consider myself lucky to have picked up two of them cheaply over the last two years...

Wow great score! I wonder what he got it for from pawn shop? Either way, $300 is a steal!! Thanks for sharing

I am sure he paid almost nothing, as did the pawn shop from the original seller. Shawn told me he could have sold it for much more, but he was making a decent profit on it and wanted the good karma, soooo...

Bonus on that finish, cracks and dings don't show as much

I have two of them. The other is a trans red single bucker made in 83. I paid less for it than this one...both play like butter and are steals. I live in the same city as Keith Roscoe, so we probably have more of his old guitars per capita than anywhere else. Usually however, they carry a much heftier price tag.

I have three Roscoes, one is the same marble paint hum/single as yours, but mine has both the back of the neck and the fingerboard painted marble like the body. Roscoes play great and they always had a bunch with graphics (a lot of which were 'R-rated'). One of mine is yellow with spots like a cheetah all over. Their booth at NAMM in the old days was always my favorite to check out.

Yep , I’ve seen the full marble guitars too. A guy here has one in white marble.

in 88 one of my friends bought a Roscoe V in all over cheetah print, it was badass!

Damn, I never heard of these (or forgot). I must have walked by their NAMM booth in Anaheim back in 1989.

                      Did they have any endorsers?

I’m not sure. They’ve got plenty of endorsers now, but for their basses. Jimmy Haslip, Taylor Swift’s bassist, Florida Georgia Line, Paul Simons bassist, etc

Upon further review, Firehouse used some, CC Deville owner three of them, Jeff Cook from Alabama had a few, The Kentucky Headhunters, Great White, and others I'm sure...

I've heard good things about those. I understand he's only been building basses for some time now.

For the most part, yes. A couple of years ago he built some guitars out of some remaining necks and bodies for Bad Axe Boutique to sell.

Gene Baker of b3 Guitars is building guitars at Roscoe ‘s facility now. Roscoe is building Roscoe basses and Baker is building b3 guitars.
