cheap strat needed

I want a cheap strat with maple fretboard & floyd rose or anything that allows dive bombs while staying in tune. if not a fender, then it needs to look like a fneder strat (pickguard, etc). do i have much choice? do the g&l dual fulcrums stay in tune after performing whammy acrobatics?
what are my options

Have you checked out the carvin Bolts?

If you dont wish to purchase an already made model, you can buy the kit for less and put it together yourself.

G&L dual fulcrums do NOT stay in tune if doing OFR type dive bombs & elephant noises....BUT im sure a set of locking tuners would help. G&L also arent in the $2-300 price range from what ive seen

If you're going to get a strat with a floyd better act now. I heard Fender is not equipping any of their production models with Floyds after this year.

Mountaindog - thanks for the tip, that's what i need. not worried about availability of Floyds on new models as I will be buying used

by the way these strats have the "swimmin pool" rout, right? Switching to a different pickup configuration is a matter of changing the pickguard as well, yes?

i think all production strats have pool route or hum-single-hum now & havnt been pickup specific for many yrs

Jerry, the HRR50s fender fits your need, made in Japan, early 90's. Have OFR and humbucker/single/single. The HRR50 has maple board, HRR60 has rosewood. Fretboard shape a little flatter than normal strat. I had one, sold on ebay for $250. They pop up occasionally for $250 to $350 or so. There's one on ebay now for $349 open, BIN $399 you can look at.
