Ibanez proline question

The guy at my local music store just called me and asked if I knew anything about this Ibanez proline series V. It has the shorter bottom wing like a RR1. The thing is a neckthrough as well! So I said I'd do some digging and of course that means "Post the question to the experts on the Jackson board"! [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] Anyhow I know it's a I I IBeen....Ibanez, but I thought I'd ask.

The neckthru ones are actually quite good, but the ones made in 85 have the prorocker bridge which blows. If it has the original Edge, it will be a killer guitar. Even with the prorocker its still cool. Last one on Ebay only fetched $400 which I thought was kind of low. Either way, they are fine guitars.......

A PL 2660? Hey, if you do not buy it.. I'll express a definite interest in buying it, provided it's still for sale.

Seriously, just e-mail me with the info if you decide against it. I've been looking for the neck thru for months.

No problem Tom. I just ordered some gear so I'm not interested in it myself. I just got back from playing it and it is defiantly one of Ibanezs finer guitars. I'll e-mail you what I know.

i owned on with the original edge on it before i could afford my first jackson), it was a fine guitar...maybe not up to the quality of a jackson but still a great one if it can be snagged for 500 or less...d.m.

[edit] I forgot to mention, it comes with a real cool case too. The top inside of the case is lined with that "egg carton" sound proofing foam stuff. (forgive my halfassed attempt at a description). [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] I thought it was cool. [img]graemlins/images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

I used to have one, and I honestly wish I had never gotten rid of it. It was a hideous metallic pink color with a black anodized aluminum pickguard. It had some kind of rail pickups that sounded really good. Overall it was a great guitar.

Hey, I used to own a couple of Proline's.

The PL2550 (Soloist style)

The PL2660 (RR style)

Both were Maple neck thru,Alder body wings, Ebony fingerboard, with sharktooth inlays, neck and headstock binding, Edge trem w/locking nut, 22 frets.
The pl2660 had 2 hums with rails.
The Pl2550 was a S/S/h config. Also, had that push button system on it for more pickup configs.

Both were the Cherry Ice (pearl pink) color. The 2660 had a black pinstripping. Hey, it was the 80's.
Very nice guitars. Well made. It's just that I had switched to carvin guitars. I prefered the 24 frets, so the ibanez's were sitting there.

Boy, dont you hate it when you think back about all the guitars you owned. Thinking "What a collection I'd have if I was able to keep them all".

I've HAD two Les Paul Customs, a Gibson 6/12 doubleneck, three Paul Reed Smiths, one San Dimas Soloist, one '70s cream-colored Strat, one Steinberger GL-4T, one early model Ibanez Universe, etc. etc. etc...

Heck, if I still had all those, I could open a very respectable used guitar store... [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

I've only seen one PL2550 in the flesh--they seem pretty rare these days. The 22 fret thing is the deal-breaker for me. Otherwise, it looks like a good deal for about $400.
