Thanks guys. I thought about a non-recessed Floyd on that one but to be honest, I was trying ot get off a inexpensively as possible on this one and believe it or not.. Warmoth charges extra to do a non-recessed Floyd body because they have to angle the neck pocket. I guess it's cheaper for them to route for a Floyd than to angle a neck pocket?? Maybe next time... Total it was $516.00 and some change. The neck was $259.00 and the body was $219.00 and then I had bought the Floyd posts and inserts and had Warmoth install them, so it came out to that price. The neck has a KILLER birdseye back to it too. I have all the hardware, pickups, etc... here to complete the project except a neckplate that I'll try to pick up tomorrow. I'm waiting to get the neck mounted and the Floyd put on to line up the pickups to make sure the line up under the strings, and then it'll be about done except for the wiring of everything. Body and neck both have about 4 coats of Tung oil and that's it...... I can't wait to hear this one, I hope it sounds as good as it looks .

Stephen,

Somewhat off topic, did you ever end up selling your Crossed Swords and pink Vandy? I know you were posting about them a while back and we talked you out of it....BTW, didn't know you changed your user name to your real name. I thought you just dissapeared after the changeover. Good to see you back (not that you really left I suppose )

Hey BFM, what's up? Yeah, I sold them both. The Vandy a while back and the Crossed Swords about a month or so ago. I thought I saw the Vandy on Ebay a little while back and it looked like the guy I sold it to wiped off the Mustaine and Ellefson sig's , don't know why as I really think they were legit. The Crossed Swords went to a very good home in PA.!! The guy that bought it has a Strathead Charvel, vintage brass tremed version of it along with about a dozen Waynes and God knows what else !! He was a very cool guy!!

I'm an idiot and when I registered over here I put my real name in where my forum name should have went...... Yep, had my head up my (you know)!! Good to see you too, I hadn't noticed you around lately and was wondering were you had been but then like me, some people changed names or messed up when re-registering to the new board.. Live and learn, I guess

Take care bro, and I'll see you around

All hail the mighty tung oil. What kind of wood is the body made out of? I love the lack on inlays and the pickup layout. Not too sure about the bridge (I hate Floyds) but hey, it's your thing not mine. That thing's going to be killer when you're done. If you can, try several different pickups. You will eventually come across one that tonally complements the body wood perfectly.

Re: O.K. another project ;-)...

Ahh yes, Tung oil... nectar of the God's!!! Body wood is Alder, top is flame maple (obviously ). I wasn't real sure about not having the inlays but I started playing my AT1 to get used the idea of it and the more I played it, the more I like it.... it gives it a really "clean" look, I think. As for pickups.. right now I have these on hand:

Dimarzio H3.. similar to the Evolution
Dimarzio H1.. same as a Super 3
Dimarzio PAF
Seymour Duncan JNL.. not sure what that one is as I haven't seen that designation on a SD before, it was in the neck position of a Kramer I had so it's probably just a neck position JB (???).

I'm gonna start with the H3 and see what that sounds like and if it doesn't work, I'll experiment with the others.

For the neck single, I scored a Duncan Cool Rail pretty cheap and I'm gonna give that a shot to start. My next Warmoth project will likely be a hardtail Strat of some kind...... I like Floyds but I hate having to set the damn thing up everytime you want to do some type of alternate tuning... That's why I love my AT1 so much .

Yea, I'm in an out. We moved into our new house last month and most of my free time is spent working on it. I do check in when I'm at the office and the occational Saturday that I'm not knee deep in Bob Villa land. Anyway, nice project! Good to see you around again!
