I spend a lot of time at the ESP board and I have to say, if you want the best $$ for that EXP then load it with EMG 81/60. No ****, you're investment in the pickups will be well worth it when you ebay that guitar because - that's what James plays!! (seriously though, it will jack up the price).

Gibson Explorers aren't really overpriced if you buy one second hand. They can be had easily in the $700 range. So that's what makes this whole LTD Explorer such a ridiculous market. The wannabe market is alive and kicking! Glad no one plays BC Rich Gunslingers and ST3's anymore...I'd hate to think I'm trying to be like anyone else! [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

That said, I'd love a Gibson Zakk Les Paul, but not enough to pay an inflated price. I'd just get a Les Paul Custom used (prolly $1000-1200), send it somewhere to get it refinished ($500 or so), and mod it a bit and save myself $1500 and buy 2 Explorers! [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Hell, I started buying Jackson/Charvel stuff because that's what my heroes played, but I'd never go with an inflated price for the sake of being like my heroes! The BC Rich Custom Explorer bass I got that used to belong to the bass player from Hericane Alice (and Bangalore Choir, Bad Moon Rising, Burning Rain, etc.) only cost me $150! [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img] Gotta like that!

There - I think I've illustrated how silly this overpricing of LTD EXP's is...but a fool is easily parted with his money! Jackson16 - I like the reason you're trying to make the money - to buy a SUPERIOR guitar - too bad it's by preying on the ignorance of others! If they dont want to pay what im asking then they wont. Im not like preying on them. Ill take what I can get for it when I fix it up. If they want it bad enough to pay that for then who cares. They'll be happy and Ill save for another Jackson.
Your starting to make me feel bad.lol. TC I know about the whole EMG raising the value. I did that to my white one. I tried to sell it without them for $450 with case and like mint. Couldnt sell it.
Then put EMG 81 and 60 and sold it the first day I asked. Who knows, if I fix it up and love to play it then Ill keep it, if not then ill sell it
and save for a soloist. Im not a big Gibson fan so
Id never go for a gibson explorer. I did think the gothic was cool. But the only Gibson id play is the LP custom or the zakk. Both of which I cant afford or wont be able to for a long time. If I had $2000 (LP custom) thats like almost 2 jacksons. Save a little longer and thats a soloist and king v. Both of which would be better suited for my tastes. Good points by all of you though, but is there anything wrong with trying to make a little money selling a guitar?

If you can get $ 600-700 for a LTD Explorer, I wonder what I can get for my ESP Explorer? Not that I'm gonna sell it, I'm just curious

dude if its in good shape and what not you could like 1500 or maybe if your lucky like 1800. Is it set neck? You could get enough for any Jackson ya wanted. I just want to find a way to get a soloist.

Hey Jackson16 - I'm just rattling your cage! [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img] I'll never be a fan of that guitar though - I played a bunch and to this day, I still can't figure out what all the fuss is about.

Just be careful - people catch hell on the classifieds here if they try to sell for a big profit - no matter what they're trying to unload it for. Be careful how much info you voluteer - it could come back to bite you!

sorry dude its just been a rough week. I didnt mean to seem biting in what I said. Im not trying to make a big time profit or rip someone off. I just want to make a little money off of it so I can get another USA Jackson. Thats how I got my y2kv. I sold my explorer for $650. then worked for the rest and saved. But if I sold it for maybe 700 then a few hundred more and I could snag a soloist. nothing fancy just like a black sl2h. stuff is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. When Im done I just hope someone will give me 700 for it. Then all I got to do is fix a stupid speaker in my cab, get a wah, a eq, and a boss metalzone and Im set. lol. no hard feelings bro
