• I scored a decent deal (I think)

I just picked this Schecter C1 Classic up for $350. It's brand new but has had the pickups removed. That's perfect for me as I don't like the JB and would be replacing the pickups anyway. So I got it for 1/2 price (regularly $699)....pretty cool. Now I just have to decide what pickups to put in it. I'm torn between EMG 85/60 and Duncan SH-5 Custom/SH-2 Jazz in gold.

I don't like the 81, too trebly for my tasts. If I go with EMG it will be 85/60, but I can't decide as I like DUncans a lot too. But gold covered Duncans are pricey.

That, is a nice score! Personally, I'd go for a Custom/Jazz combo, but thats my opinion. Nice guitar mate!

NICE & i may have gold gibson style pickup covers. i'll look in my parts, im not sure if there gold or chrome. & do the pickups mount directly into the wood i didnt notice any holes for rings.

Nice Axe!!! I'd go SH2 on the Neck and a Custom Custom on the Bridge.

I think the Jazz is a good choice for the neck.
I like the JB for the bridge.
But, since you dont, I would look at either the Custom or maybe even the Distortion.

I've noticed a lot of the Classics without pickups floating around.
I noticed that the veneer is very, very thin on the natural colored classics. You can actually see through it somewhat, and see the "neck thru" neck.

Of course its thin, all the Korean caps are paper thin veneers. What are you expecting for that kind of money? Lets keep it in perspective.

I know the Korean guitars use a veneer.
I just hought this veneer was exceptionally thin.
That can only be about a paper thickness.

Re: I scored a decent deal (I think)

I used to have a Schecter 006 Terry Corso and the veneer on that one was so thin you could see through it around the edges. But it was one of the best playing gutiars I had ever owned (and I have bought/sold close to 40 gutiars in the past 2 years including Gibsons, Fender USA, and Jackson USA). We'll see when this one comes. I just couldn't pass it up as I had been eyballing them anyway but didn't want to shell out $699 for one, plus swapping out the pickups. Thing that concerns me is I bought it off ebay last night and paid with paypal, now I'm not getting a response from the seller and the seller has relisted the item (at the same price). The seller is musicgoround which is a reputable dealer on-line. I'm hoping they have more than one rather than some funny business. We'll see.

nice one I was thinking about that one myself too, but I don't like the color.. the new trans blue looks cool but that one doesn't have gold hardware (it has chrome)

congrats
