• BC Rich experts, please help!

Okay, I'm looking at an NJ Series Warlock in a pawn shop. Can some of you guys please help me to tell what is good quality and what is junk? So what is meant by:

NJ Series
Platinum Series
Bronze Series
etc....

This one is in desperate need of a good setup (which I can do myself), but it seems to be decent quality.

Thanks!

By the way.... here's a bit more info. It is a bolt-on neck and has the so-called "widow" headstock.

Decent? Junk? What do you think?

I'm not a big fan of them but the NJ you're talking about is quite descent.. Balance could be better.. I think that one has black hardware right?

Stay away from the bronze series as fas as you can

If I remember correctly, the NJ series is the most expensive of the imports. I bought a black NJ bolt on with the widow headstock brand new for about $400. I have seen a LOT of that exact same guitar, they mass produced the life out of them for quite awhile. I had an NJ neck-through that was listed at $800, and I sold it for $300 on eBay. Haven't regretted it. I'd say that the guitar you are talking about is worth maybe $200 tops.

Thanks, guys. Yes, this one has the black hardware (licensed Floyd) and the guy said he could let it go for $150.00.

I'd agree. $200 for a bolt on NJ is tops. Save up some dough and get a nice USA for 3x the price or so.

The one I just picked up for $850 is supposed to be dead mint and the first one. So, if you're shopping, the good deals are out there.

Just a warning though, after playing enough Jacksons, I just think that any Jackson worth the name plays better than just about any BC Rich. My friend has a custom shop USA Rich that he bought brand new, and I prefer playing my import Jackson. On the other hand, my other guitar player from my band swears by his maple fretboard Rich Bich, so I guess it's a matter of personal taste.

Re: BC Rich experts, please help!

they are OK. if your looking for a warlock Ide say WAIT try & find an older NJ. & if you dont mind Kahler trems neckthru USA's can be found pretty cheap. there was a USA neckthru mockingbird with kahler $550 BIN sold in a few hours. the old NJ's are very very good & are much better than the new ones. most of the neckthrus were maple with mahogany wings & sound great with new pickups.
also bolton USA BCRichs dont really have good resale value & can be had for $3-500,
depending on condition & rarity.
most BCRich freaks like myself only want OLD neckthru USAs & ive limited myself even more i only want natural or trans colored ones. nice WOOD looks so great & can even make a BCRich heavy metal cheese log look classy.

its also only $150 so for that price if it plays OK & looks COOL go for it....but your also in the same price range as charvel model1-2's
