• New Kramer Single Cuts and SG Knock Offs

I received an email from Music Yo that showed the new Kramer single cutaways and sg knockoffs. They look suspiciously like the ESP les paul copies and the sg copy that one of those nu metal guys (can't think of his name-he has blond reggae style hair).

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know for sure if ESP's Korean plant is making the Music Yo Kramers?

I thought Gibson owned Music Yo.

Most Korean imports (by every company) are actually made by Samick. Compare various models and features from ESP/LTD, Schecter, Kramer, Epiphone, Dean, etc.

Dean imports aren't made by Samick.

I think they'll turn out cool. When I first saw them I thought it was a bad idea and would suck but then I remembered Gibson is the parent company and they made the Kramer LP now have 24 frets (what it always needed) so I think it adds something to a classic.

They dropped the ball though I think. Where's the neck thru 7 string guitars? Why isn't there a neck thru guitar with a maple neck yet? I wonder if they'll do a Kramer version of the Flying V with 24 frets sometime soon?

I like the Headstock, I was praying they weren't gonna put a hockey stick on it. The logo is cool as well, nice touch.

the LP seems to only be a 22-fretter... But otherwise it seems very nice, controls recessed, nice flame top, inlays are nice too. And the prices seem to be right as well!

And are you thinking of Max Cavalera and his Bright Green Viper thingy?

I wonder what Gibson's marketing theory behind this is. Isn't this just going to cannibalize sales from the Epiphone LP and SG knockoffs? The headstock shape on these "Kramers" looks exactly like the Epiphone shape.

Look at the SG one, the look at an ESP LTD of the same style. Same geetar.

Gibson/Kramer Korean guitars are made in the same plant as the Epiphones. These guitars are just rebadged Epiphones. While I like some of the new Kramers, I'm very disappointed to see them try to rebadge Gibson models as Kramers. That's WAY wrong in following the Kramer mystique.

I totally agree with you man. The Epiphone side of things handles their thing and the Kramer side should handle the shredder guitars, this convergence scares me. What next, a Kramer version of the ES335?

Kramer should be working on expanding the Baretta and Striker series.
