Pickup switching on ESP George Lynch models?

A strange question, but... I know George's guitars had only one volume knob that you could pull out to go from the bridge humbucker to the neck single coil, but was it a pull/pull (pull once to have neck and bridge pup together and pull up again to have just neck pup) or would it just pull up once only for either pup by itself? it's actually a switch...pull up you get the sc, push back down to get the humbucker...no way i know of to get both on at once...d.m.
