Yeah, I see what you are saying.

It would be fun to get together some guys and play some classic rock type stuff, or even funk type stuff would be fun. I could even squeeze in a few of Paul Gilbert's newer poppier type songs. Not all of it is really technical, but really fun to play.

Holy Crap!! Thats the best bit of advice I've ever read on this board for you, young man.

Skidd is way beyond 100% correct. Word, you really don't need another guitar. You need a band. Bad. You'll find out real fast what is lacking in your playing. You have decent lead chops, but in the real world, you play lead about 20% of the time. The rest is playing rhythm and with out real world experience in a band you'll never develop those chops.

Guys who can shred are many, guys who can shred and can also lay down a 12 bar blues with taste and feeling are few and far between. Guys who can easily do both pretty much don't exist. Be THAT guy.

I'm trying hard to get into a band.. but do you know how hard that is to do for a 14 year old Dream Theater fan? [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Ok, I've narrowed it down to the GMW Custom, the Green Meanie, or a Universe. I'll let you guys know what I get when I have the cash in hand.

But that's what I'm saying, get into anything just to get some live chops under your belt. I saying this in a postive way, I don't want to come across a Word bashing.

I'm not trying to just get another guitar, I'm actually trying to thin out everything to just 2 guitars and my amp. 4 guitars is a hassle, especially when they all have floyds.

I very recently starting seriously looking for a band, but also just found out that I might have mono.. waiting on a bloodtest to come back Monday to see what's wrong with me.. so this has kind of kept me from searching more.

It's kind of odd to me, but I can see where you guys are coming from. Most think that I can't play slow blues type stuff or any other style but neo-classical or metal, but I've just never showed that side of me yet on this board. When I get a chance to buy a decent recording program like Guitar Tracks or something similar then I will post some different stuff.

and it's not so much that we think you can't play a slow blues, it's just what chuck said about conviction... i don't care how great yngwie is, listening to him get thru a 12 bar is painful.

i'm not suggesting you are only concerned with playin a million miles an hour, either. and hell, you don't need us armchair quarterbacking, but by all means, get a band. even if it's not the classicalprogmetal supergroup you want to end up with, get yerself out there. i can relate to the playin in a band where everyone is older than you; i've done it a few times, especially when i too was 14. my stepdad at the time was in a coverband, and he'd let me jam with them a bit. it may have been kinda lame, but i'm glad now i had to fight to keep up with them while playin motown and some funk stuff. wanna learn somethin fun? learn ABC by the jackson 5. hell, even sam and dave's soul man is a good time. makin the ladies shake their asses is way more satisfying to me than gettin all modal on an audience.

okay, i'm off on a tangent, so i'll stop, but there's many bands that may be kinda close to what you like...they may need a guitar player.
