Re: What exactly is Fender\'s "synchronized tremolo?"
I believe it's their basic vintage-type six-screw trem, which is different than their two-point trem which pivots on two posts. They kinda look similar, though, just screwed in the body differently.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Actually, you will often find the "With Synchronized Tremolo" decal on many different model Fender's. Off the top of my head there were several Floyd Rose equipped models over the years that had decals mentioning this (Floyd Rose Classic, '69 Floyd Rose Relic, HRR reissue) as well as two points and traditional 6 points. What it boils down to is the decal. Fender labeled their Strat headstocks "With Sychronized Tremolo" back in the 50's and 60's. What has happened is people have demanded vintage reissue headstock decals on various signature series guitars and even on special spec guitars with the same decal for a vintage vibe. Yngiwe's from the 80's into the 90's had the old tremolo decal and an American Standard two point tremolo.
The term is even flawed as a tremolo is an electronic effect that changes volume. A vibrato is what they really are, which is pitch changing.

Re: What exactly is Fender\'s "synchronized tremolo?"
Sorry... believe tremolo refers to a musical term in which a note is sounded repeatedly. Take your guitar pick, start alternate-picking any note on any string at a decent speed, and you have yourself tremolo. A repetition of notes.
The tremolo EFFECT is a repeated mid-to-rapid swelling of volume.
Stupid Leo Fender named his pitch-changing bridge a "tremolo" because it reminded him of his tremolo effect on his amps, when it is a highly erroneous term. Hence, from that day forward, all moving bridges were referred to as trems. Floyd Rose trem, vintage trem, Schaller trem, floating trem, the tremolo bar, trem diving/bombing, trem screws, trem posts... arrgh!! As you correctly stated, it is a vibrato bridge since it changes the pitch.

Re: What exactly is Fender\'s "synchronized tremolo?"
Your right about the tremolo. What I was meaning to point out was Leo was bass akwards as he named his built in amplifier electronic volume changing effect "Vibrato" and his pitch changing bridge "tremolo".
