Carvin...

Hey folks...
Just picked up a Carvin on Ebay for $350. My first Carvin! Not sure what model it is though, and thought someone here would know. It's the standard strat-style double cutaway, 2 hums with 2 coil taps, neck through, with a Floyd and the "pointy" 6 on one side headstock. Anybody have an idea?
Thanks!

If it's a Jackson-style pointy headstock, then it's probably an old late '80s Carvin DC125 with the double humbucker option.

Yeah, it has the Jackson-style pointy headstock, so I'll assume it's the DC125. I have pics, but not sure how to post them. Thanks for the info folks!

If it's transparent blue with a flamed maple top, maple fretboard, dot inlays, dual hum, and a Kahler.. I'll give you 400 or 500 dollars for it, OR I can always find out where you live. Leave your window open.

DC125 and DC127 are basically the same thing, but the 125 has one pup, the 127 has two. Pro-Fusion is right about the DC125 back then could be upgraded to an extra pup. The DC125 is still available today, but not listed on their website or catalog. You have to call up to place the order, and you even have the option to get it without a tone control.

I was following that auction, subvamp! Not to bid, though--can't be doing that again for awhile. I just enjoy following auctions for cool guitars at the moment. That's a sweet acquisition, congrats--I'm glad a JCFer grabbed it. You should check out the Carvin board (linked off of the company's site) for lots of great info on these guitars.

I have a DC145 from the same era as yours that has the rounder strat-style body wings and middle single coil, with just a single volume control and coil tap switch. A real heavy metal animal. It records great, too. Cuts through a mix like nobody's business. Personally, I like the Carvins from that era better than the current ones because they were more overtly "Jackson-ish", but Carvin still makes very nice guitars.

Hey Pro-Fusion...
Yeah man, it was a "crash and dash" on that Carvin! Personally, I'm really searching for an older Carvin with the old 3 per side headstock, like Ye Olde DC200 Stereo, (Carried the catalog in my back pocket back in the day...with a pack of EZ-Wider... ) but I couldn't turn this one down for the price. Oh Lordy...G.A.S. is killin me!

Word, glad ya like it! It plays like buttah too. I will definitely keep you in mind if I decide to sell. I have this weird revolving-door thing I do...buy a nice guitar, play it for awhile, sell it for another nice guitar, etc. I wonder if there's a term for that...
