Re: Carvin...

Subvamp, just keep checkin' the Bay...I've seen several very nice koa DC200's posted there in the last few weeks. I also wouldn't mind trying out one of those older DC200's with the fixed bridge. Some people like the pre-1988 set neck DC200's better than the later neck-thru guitars, but I question whether that really makes much of a difference.

Lordy, I remember those Carvin catalogs myself--I ordered an X100B half-stack from the catalog in 1985.

Also, now that I think about it, earlier Carvins had a 24.75" scale. I think some time in the early to mid '90s they went to 25".

Very nice.

Hey Kent...
Thanks for the rundown! That's an exact description. I was trying to find some info on it, but I didn't see anything that had this particular headstock. It has a regular Floyd nut by the way. I couldn't get your link to work...I wanted to check out that DC200!

Interesting trivia from the Carvin Guitar Museum: The DC127 was listed as a model
with description and pricing in the 1990 catalog, but there was no picture of it.
That was the last year for the true pointy Jackson-style headstock, so your guitar could possibly be an actual DC127.
In 1991 the pointy headstock with the Strat-type flare on the bottom was used, then in 1992 they went to Sperzels and the current straight-pull headstock.

Beautiful guitar, and nice DC200 too!!

Woa, that DC200 is SWEET! I love the block inlays and gold hardware. Damnit, now that I've seen how good the blue looks with gold hardware, I'm going to have to replace all the chrome!

The '90's had that little dip added to the headstock so it doesnt look exactly like a Jackson headstock. '88 and '89 were the only 2 years they actually offered the jackson style headstock.

Re: Carvin...

So it could be an '88 also.
The main difference was that on the '89 the horn got a little more rounded and had the strap button placed on the tip of the horn instead of underneath the horn.

I knew that you had been considering a 7-string Carvin for some time now so I just KNEW we were gonna end up in a bidding war on this one. heheheh I ALMOST emailed you a few times, but decided not to.

hehehe I traded my Kelly for an Ibanez 7-string, so that'll hold me over for awhile until I decide to go for a Carvin. Plus, I'm broke right now anyway!
