• Classical Guitar

I need help choosing a classical guitar under $400. I'm not as familiar with classical guitar companies as i am with electric and acoustic i.e(jackson, gibson/martin, taylor, ovation). i know some of you have a classical influence to you shredding so you could be a big help. i've been thinking of a cutaway A/E ibanez, any good? I'm very open on this subject, they dont have to be cutaways or A/E or flamenco, any suggestion would be fine. thanks in advance.

neither am i but look for a wide, flatter radious fingerboard, & nylon strings. classical has very little string bending & alot of chordy type fingerings, a wide flat board will help. i dont know the specs but a Chet Atkins gibson may be an option its set up very much like a country/classical.

You should check out the LaPatrie line of classicals. They're made in Canada by Seagull/Godin. I have the "Collection" model with rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck and cedar top with a glossy finish. The store price was about $479. They make other models for less, too. I think they start about $300. Of course these aren't the best classicals available, but I think it's a pretty fine value. My guitar has a very pleasing tone, and the glossy finish lets me get a little more volume and a percussive effect.

Also, use Augustine strings. It's amazing how good they sound. Much better than D'Addario, and they're good strings too.
