Interesting. That's the first Hetfield signature with 24 frets... and it's a baritone. Guess he's trying to go all Nu-metal on us! So maybe the new Metallica will be kinda heavy after all.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's exactly what I thought. I KNOW that St. Anger is definately downtuned and there's a few different tunings on it, but they better have a few of their guitars tuned for standard or AT LEAST Eb for the live shows for the old songs.

And actually, I think if you put on 8s or 9s that you actually can tune up to standard, but it may need a little better set up. The stock strings are 13s ( ) tuned to B.

13s tuned to B would feel like 9s or 10s tuned to standard. I think if you put 8s or 9s or 10s on a baritone in standard tuning, they would probably break at that tension with that longer scale length.

Congratz with a new guitar. Is the the Grynch a limited guitar (like the JH-1, JH-2 and JH-3) or is it going to be mass produced?

Re: My ESP LTD Grynch is coming on Friday

They're saying limited - I think a couple hundred. I think they're a very cool guitar, but I just can't get past the $$$pricetag$$$ for it being an LTD - maybe if were actually an ESP, but geez!! Then again, if it were an actual ESP, it would probably cost @$2000... I've had a couple LTD's and a couple ESP's - nice guitars, and well put together with decent hardware (except of course the Floyds... )but could stand a bit more attention to detail on the higher end stuff - especially the Lynch models. I thought the LTDs were better than many Korean imports, but I'm getting a feeling that they are really starting to overprice these "sig" models - it's just their basic LTDs with a nice paintjob and better pickups. They cost nearly as much as a lot of USA guitars. With that thought in mind, I'll save my investment for USED USA guitars at lower prices than the new imports. Just my $.02.

Actually chris, the entire thing with HSC cost me about $839. Not too bad, IMO.

And yes it is a limited edition guitar, as can be seen from the COA in the link to the thread on the ESP board above. Limited to 260 worldwide.

Sweet.....I am thinking of getting a baritone 7 string. Only reason I can figure why someone uses a baritone as opposed to a 7 string s because they have small hands...and they cant fret the wider necks comfortably. When you got hands that resemble a bunch of bananas like I have.....you grab a 7 string neck and say " I wish it was thicker and wider"....but, then..I have had the same comment from women regarding my other "instrument".-Lou
