Re: My ESP LTD Grynch is coming on Friday
Well, any pictures you see of this guitar WILL NOT give it justice.
First off, I bought it from Drum City Guitar Land, if you ever have the chance to buy a guitar from them, DO IT, I got lots of extras, including 20 picks, an extra set of strings, an ESP Catalog, a soon to come ESP T-Shirt, etc.
This guitar came with a COA signed by James Hetfield himself and I got the NUMBER 5 GRYNCH!!! The serial no. is on the base of the headstock, G005.
Specs: Mahogany body, maple set neck, rosewood fretboard (24 frets) with abalone dots and GRYNCH at the 12th, head/neck binding, locking Sperzel tuners, tonepros tuneomatic bridge, 1 vol/1 tone/3-way switch + EMG Afterburner boost system, EMG-81 bridge/EMG-60 neck.
This guitar has my favorite graphic of all time, black color with green hot rod flames all over it...the body/headstock/back/neck/back of headstock, EVERYWHERE BUT THE DANG FRETBOARD!!! I love this graphic! In some shades of light it even sparkles...
I think I've covered pretty much everything...as you know, this guitar IS an ESP LTD, which means I'm pretty sure it's made in Korea...but it's hard to say. This guitar has A FLAWLESS, I MEAN PERFECT setup. It says nowhere on the guitar where it was made, it's probably Korea, but if I knew nothing about this guitar and you tried to tell me it was made in the USA in a custom shop, I'd believe you! It plays perfectly and flawlessly.
The neck is comparable to a Gibson Explorer I played a while ago...not as thin as Ibanez/Jackson but not as fat as the Gibson Boatnecks. It's at a middle ground width that is very comfy.
The EMGs sound great. A great sound for the low B. The 81 is awesome for distorted chugginess, and the 60 is fine for clean tones, but also a warmer lead sound.
Stays in tune well, due to the locking Sperzels.
Anyways, overall, this is an AWESOME guitar and all I spent on it was about $800-$900. High end LTD guitars like this are STEALS, I would suggest them to anybody, including you guys. I think this baby plays awesome, and I really wanna try the LTD Deluxe EC1000 and Viper models to see how good they are.
Bottom line, kick ass guitar, kick ass price, I am one lucky man.
PS-I don't really know a lot of songs for the B tuning...yet...when Metallica's St. Anger comes out however, I'll LEARN EM ALL!!!
Also, I will get pics next week and I'll need someone to host em, please.
