  • amazing guitar-why can't it be mine?

Is this the sweetest guitar in the universe or what??? I find myself experiencing pain and emptiness on some sort of existential level that it isn't mine.(severe g.a.s.) I don't compare it to guitars with graphics, thats a different kind of cool, but for quilted maple this thing rules. Not my usual choice of color either, but it works.

I would love to try an Anderson some day, they sure look like superior built quality. The one you found there, looks a little too crowded for my taste (too many pickups and switches).

guitarforceone - it's an anderson drop top. Go to their site and you can just drool for hours. It's that bad, mate.

jackson1 - yeah, i wouldn't choose that p/u combo either, and their full switching system is a bit much...I've only ever played two, one is still hanging in a store in Montreal (saw it again today). They are freakin' magic. Unreal guitars, bolt on necks but they just sing and sustain for ever. the single coils just chimed like bells when I ran it clean. They are really scarce up here, and you gotta be quick if one or two do come in. I'm on a call list at the local store for whenver the next order comes in. If I see one I like I'm just going to grab it on the spot, no questions asked. It can be up to two years between shipments and they get only 2-5 at a time, and it's a total snooze you lose thing. One of the sales guys I know says the last time they got a batch (5 or so) they disappeared within 3 or 4 days, which is totally unheard of for stuff in that price range, usually.

The 2 strap buttons are so when you lean your guitar against an amp, it dosn't tilt to one side or the other.. pretty cool idea.

One the other hand I'd be scared ****less to not use a guitar stand on a big bucks guitar like an Anderson!

They can be rare, but the trick is to find a dealer that has "slots" open with Anderson that they can use for customer orders. This way you can place an order and get it in a few months if the dealer has a slot.

I know Magdon Music has a bunch of slots:

                  http://www.magdonmusic.com/guitar/anderson/index.htm

I think Gelb Music and Wildwood Guitars might also have slots.

If you are going pay the new price, I would strongly recommend that you place a custom order and get *exactly* what you want.

Maybe the two strap buttons are for the players choice? Certain players like the way a guitar "hangs" on them in a particlar way. Some prefer the "level" position and some prefer more of an angled stance. Maybe that's what they are for?

Kind of reminds me of Vic's recent Custom: Woof!

Re: amazing guitar-why can\'t it be mine?

the two strap buttons are for sitting the guitar down and it not tipping like the other guy said.

the switcharoo (i have it on my drop top classic) is really pretty cool. the switch out by it'self is your selector switch, and the 3 toggles allow you to set a "preset" that has any combination of any pickup, and when the switch by itself (they call it a blower switch) is in the down position it's just the bridge pickup, when in the up position, it is the preset of the other pickups. You can also take off the backplate and select between series or parallel for each tap on the 3 mini's, as in the up position it's tapped, middle is off, down is in humbucker. It is really cool, my other 2 drop tops have a 5 way.

you have a greater range of sounds if you go hum single hum, and it's not really crowded since there are only 22 frets. Anderson pickups are the only pickups i've heard that really split when you coil tap them too. My hum single hum when i tap the neck pickup it sounds like a single coil, not a hum coil tapped.

yes they are a lot of money, but anything good usually is. if you keep looking you can find deals on them. I have 3 now, all used that i got pretty good deals on but were still a chunk of change. My next one i'm going to get custom made, gotta save for that one though.
