• Kwestion about the other guitar companies

Howcome a lot of people here hate their guts? I see a lotta fender bashing *understandable cuz of the buyout* and a lot of gibson bashing, and a whole lotta Ibanez bashing. What's the story? Is it just cuz they're competators?

Re: Kwestion about the other guitar companies

No one here(at least most here anyway) bashes a guitar company because they are a competitor, it's usually because they have had bad experiences with them in the past with things like quality issues and overall craftmanship.

I haven't had a problem with Ibanez, and I don't feel the need to bash them. I have, however, found many quality issues with many Gibsons.

I do think that some here bash some companies only because other people bash them, but not many here do that.

Well i've been on the fender board a few times, and i've seen several posts bashing Jackson. And then there was that one time that they actaully came to our board and started making fun of us lol.

I've only played a few Gibsons, and one was a Black Beauty *LP with 3 gold humbuckers* It had fretbuzz everywhere, that couldn't be fixed with a simple truss adjustment. It was also heavy as a mofo, so i put it down after just a few strums lol. But i love the SG modles.

The only problem i've had with Ibanez is the Trem. The one i have is a pos, but that's okay. It stays in tune when i don't mess with it lol. So i suppose that's a good thing ^.^

Re: Kwestion about the other guitar companies

I bash Ibanez because they built real nice copys of gibsons & fenders in the 70's then jumped on the hotrod strat bandwagon. the neck pockets only hold on the side of the neck, real craftsmanship there.....& i think theyplay like toys.

ESP i bash because when i bought mine BRAND NEW they were under $500 & a great option for someone who wanted a jackon like guitar with 1/3 the price, now a real ESP is the same price as a USA Jackson & IMO not nearly as good. Ive owned ESPs & have played many & they are not as good as they were. i recently played a kamikazee custom shop & it had some build quality issues that for $500 i may have been able to over look BUT $1000+ custom shop thats a POS to me.
I also like how esp cashes in on artist series guitars, to me artist guitars should be REPLICAs of the instrument who name is on it, ala PCS jacksons.

I bash Ibenhad because it took them 3 months to send me a replacement tremolo. Does Vai have to wait 3 months? He doesn't have to pay either. A paying customer is worthless to Ibanez.

ESP make Charvel and Jackson ripoffs. Period.

Gibson think too highly of their guitars. The ones I've had were and are great, but not $3500 great.

Fender and Gibson both bow to the whims of their Puritanical collector groups and resist all opportunities to progress their designs simply because the Puritans cry that "it isn't true to the original 1950's designs!"
That, to me, is a closedmindedness that begets failure.

Yet, many young Hendrix wannabes will be their guitars no matter what.

I like guitars from most manufacturers. Both of my Gibsons are flawless, and so is my Ibanez. As for quality, all companies put out stinkers, even Charvel/Jackson. I've owned 2 that sucked, and I've seen others that blew chunks. There is not one company out there that builds a perfect guitar every time........

That's true. Most companies I've come across have at least some duds. Although, the better companies make it easier to pick from the litter. It still means you can find a great guitar regardless of the name on the headstock.

Perhaps it's because this is the Jackson/Charvel forum, THE place for fans of Jackson and Charvel guitars?

well ya chuck lol, But i just wanted to know basicly why everyone chose Jackson over those others. ^.^ I think it's cool. I still have yet to play a USA jackson though. I also have yet to play an LTD, but i don't really care about ESP because they don't have any original designs that i haven't seen or probably felt on any other guitar.

I guess i should just go outside of the 30 minute radius of my town and try out some real guitars lol.

Re: Kwestion about the other guitar companies

I will bash A guitar regardles of who made it. When i ordered my first Jackson I sent the first one back and recieved another one of poor quality, switched mail order companies and then was satisfied. Jackson isn't above any ranting and raving sessions. One of my most favorite guitars was an Arbor Strat with a Jackson style headstock, black and red stripe graphic and loaded with a DiMarzio bucker and 2 singles. Loved it and miss it to this day. I owned another Arbor that sucked hard. All 3 of the Ibanez guitars I've owned kicked ass, but my friends top-o-the line RG570 sucked big time. It's all a matter of taste and right here on the Jackson board I've seen people post great things about PRS and then post about a flaw or bad experience with PRS. This shows me that I can trust the advice of most everyone here and what our JCF brothers are speakin is the truth. If you like Ibanez, play Ibanez. If your trem sucks on it, don't feel alone, others have had the same experiences. Try replacing it. If not, sell it and buy something that works totaly. People bash equaly here in the JCF. Ibanez just takes most of the heat along with ESP. Get used to it dude. There's a turd in every bunch.

Re: Kwestion about the other guitar companies

Kamo asked why everyone here chose Jackson/Charvel over the rest, I thinks it because we've looked, played, all the other guitar companies, and had really liked them at one point, until you find out something about price or something else, Jackson/Charvel suits are needs our playing style, are tastes, and what we think as the ideal guitar, or pretty close to ideal. Thats why Gibson doesn't change their design, its what they think is the ideal guitar. Take a look at Fender, every single guitar looks the same apart from the tele/strat, because its what they think a 'guitar' is. If you think back, Gibson and Fender were the first two major companies to produce guitars, and off the top of my head I can't think of any company that comes up after that other than Jackson/Charvel (probably tons, but they all rip off the same Gibson, Fender concept, or body shape ect.) You look at the Warrior shape from Jackson or the KV, totally different. Its the same deal with trucks, its all about what suits you.

Hope my ramblings make a little bit of sence/Jon

Kamo, you may just need to expand your horizons a tad.
I Don't currently own any USA Jacksons, but I have owned several of everything in the USA Jackson world, and San Dimas Charvel's, as many here can attest. My current choice is GMW, but there IS a certain USA Jackson that is stuck on my radar...Hi Jon!!

I have played most brands and models out there, even G&L and US Masters(these US Masters guitars were flawless). Anyway, for quality, feel, models, mojo, and intangibles, I choose to play Jacskon USA-Hamer USA and Carvin USA, they just do it for me, and price per quality is unbeatable Jack.
